Sigma 35mm 1.4 W/ MC-11 Autofocus

So I've had my Sigma 35mm 1.4 with the MC-11 Sony E mount adapter for almost two years now on my Sony a7, and in the past year or so it seems as if the autofocus has just started going to shit, and really just the lens's sharpness in general when shooting at F/2.8 and larger. I take care of my glass and clean it regularly, I don't know what it is. Do I need to update the software or fine tune the autofocus (if it even works like that)? I'm not very techy with softwares or cameras outside of the editing and resolution side of things. Also, has anyone else experienced poor autofocus and sharpness with this same setup?

never used the sigma adapter but from my experience with numerous others is that when you use an adapter you can kiss reliable and quick autofocus goodbye. Only native lenses offer dependable autofocus

I've definitely understood that part from the get-go, but the lens's sharpness in general has gone to shit, so idk what it is but when compared to what everyone else has to say about Sigma's quality and sharpness, it doesn't add up
