Sidewall protectant?

So Ive always been adamant about making sure my skis aren't cutting up my sidewalls. Anyways after skiing Ive deffinately noticed some wear and tear from the edges the more I use them when touring. Any thoughts on keeping your sidewalls from imploding your ski, besides the obvious of never touching them?

Or ways to repair sidewalls scars?

Im thinking a small layer of poxy in the spots that see the most friction.

Well if you get a sidewall scar just use a sidewall cutter to trim it off, but it really doesn't matter, and shaving down your sidewall is going to weaken it

What skis are you on?

I have a bamboo snowskate, the sidewall are just wood. After a year or so the snow and ice began to sand away the wood, leaving the topsheet and edge.I ffilled it with some double bubble urethane. Its way more flexible then epoxy and seems more durable...and it what a lot of sidewall is made off.
