what shoudl i get to take good skiing photos mostly but take other pictures of other random shit too? my budget is like 700 tops, i was looking at the nikon D80 but i think it's a little too expencive... hit me with some info!

i've shot a ton of photos with my pops rebel xti and i love it, i don't feel like i need all those megapixels though, i'm not going to be blowing up many big posters or anything... i mean what i don't spend on the camera, i will spend on a sick telephoto lense... so i'm torn between the nikon D40 which only has 6.1mp and the rebel XT which has 8mp, the d40 is cheaper though.

I shoot with an XT and it gets the job done. granted there are better cameras but XT and XTi get it done.

I would recommend the D50 or 60, The rebel xti is good as well. If you are looking to change lenses out I wouldn't go for the D40. You can use some lenses on it but not all will work (the one prob with that Cam). If you are use to shooting a canon then stick with a canon, just easier that way. Don't worry about meg pix, you can never have enough, even if you aren't planning to enlarge photos.

XTi is good will def get the job done,anything 10.1 or over is fine

olympus e-410 get the package for like 630$ and you get like a 14-40 mm lens and a 40-150mm lens

look at the effective pixel counts instead of just the labeled numbers they will always be way different because of companies trying to jam a billion pixels in a millimeter so watch out

I would look for a used 20D, you can get it for cheap and it is way better then any of the cameras stated so far.

Yeah they are way cheap, cause Canon doesn't make them anymore. THey moved on to bigger and better things. As for being better then the other cameras stated, might want to do some research on that before you make that statement.
