You guys need to develop a normal looking helmet and some goggles for this market segment.

I mean someone just has to own it and not give a fuck. This snowboard dude (Trevor Jacobs or something?) does it pretty well:

I see big things out of Schloppy.

Looking to attend for the first year, how do I buy tickets??

You have to register as an exhibitor, press, or a buyer with a retailer through SIA's Website.

Sadly we're sitting this year out. Going to miss seeing all the friends and the parties. If you want a look into what we're coming with next season check out our snapchat and instagram stories. We will be showing the new line daily over the next two weeks.

I think we are going to see more and more of this in the years to come. SIA is a dinosaur that's dying

its dying 100%. sad...i always looked foreward to seeing pictures and details of all the gear, of course we will still get all that...SIA just built up the anticipation i guess

The president of SIA sent out this email a few days ago (shockingly) straight-forwardly acknowledged everything people have been saying behind their back

We don't think SIA is a dinosaur or dying. But the cost of the event for smaller brands is extremely taxing. Also the time and energy it takes to prepare and set up for the event is absurd.

The trade show is great but in the last several years it seems to be less and less beneficial to medium to small brands and the only reason to be there is to shake hands and talk to people you see once a year

I mean part of the problem there though is to become a "Dead/Dying Dinosaur" you first lose the value of your product to your customers. That is part of the problem here - SIA is a massive undertaking for businesses who participate. I mean hell even for us where its about a 1/10 the price for you guys, we could do a couple of other media trips for the costs of just getting the whole crew to the show.

There used to be no way for shops to easily digest all the new gear and place orders. That isn't the case anymore.

The entire concept of a trade show is struggling right now, and it isn't by any means isolated to skiing. Across every industry the whole thing is being re-thought.

SIA shot its self in the head when it moved to Colorado.

The cost Literally tripled,

-A discounted room for the "SIA Discounted Rate" will run you from $199 to $400 if you want to be within walking distance of the show. Back when it was in Vegas you could get a sick room any where from $25 to $75.

-Las Vegas also has ridiculously discounted flights during the winter season, for Denver it's there prime time.

They lost the idea of SIA being a business vacation.

-Regardless SIA is a lot of money for stores and brands to shell out, however, on a buyer platform, Vegas had tenfold more stores coming. Owners of smaller shops could look at it as a "business vacation" meaning when the show ends each day at 6 there would be a huge sponsored party going on, or you can go catch a show, gamble, or do one of the million other things to do for fun in Vegas. With Denver, the show ends at six and all there is to do is catch a shitty bar or go to the mall.

Vegas offered fun.

Denver Offers business meetings.

Why spend thousands on meetings when a rep will just come to your store?

*End grammatical errors

Not only what you have added but let's be real here, shops make most of their money on soft goods, not hard goods, and most deadlines for major softgood companies are in early January. SIA is in late January, well past deadlines for many companies, so the better ski shops don't really have a lot of reason to go when you can see the product earlier and create better budgets. Even Outdoor Retailer is past most deadlines, so why spend the money on the trip?
