Anyone else see it last night? I was kind of let down about it because the trailer was not what the movie was, but still enjoyed it. Basically, I got two words to describe the movie- Mind Fuck. It was crazy. I dont want to ruin it but damn.

there's another shutter island thread on the first page of nsg...

but anyways-- I haven't seen it yet but it looks dope I can't wait.

wtf? I looked and search bared for one, nothing. Well thanks for not flaming me.
as for the trailer, it wasnt that the trailer was better then the movie, it was that the trailer was different from the movie.

An amazing film of quality. Characters are amazing and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. A must see.
Challenges the mind, something many films fail to do these days.

Just saw the movie today, holy shit, it surpassed all my expectations. amazing movie, really makes you think afterwords

did you not read the two comments above you?
It's a great movie, unless you can't comprehend the mechanics that make a great film.

well i just got back. I watched the whole thing with high hopes of a great ending. then it appeared to have a really shitty ending... but then i found out what the guard guy was holding in his hand in the ending (i just missed it the first time). summed it all up really well, and now i'm happy.

Yup.

good movie. takes creepy to another lever. my only bummer was that neither me nor any of my friends had read the book or any reviews and still predicted the movie prior to walking in the theater. that bummed me out.

It's pretty open but i don't think so mainly because at the end. Chuck calls him 'Teddy'. But then again, any rational explanation can be dismissed if you think that he was really insane, so...

This movie sucked dick. It would have been good if it wasn't a beautiful mind/ sixth sense fuckin ending FUCK THAT

Yea but "chuck" calls him "teddy" after "teddy" calls him "chuck". So he was going along with it because DiCaprio is crazy, and a psychiatrist usually doesn't want their patients going into a raging fit.

And did Teddy give himself up at the end? He said something along the lines of "Is it better to die a hero, or better to live a monster" and then he willingly walks off with the doctor to get the lobotomy. I think that he gave up because he could not accept the fact that he was crazy and imagined basically everything that happened in the movie.

I thought it was an excellent movie, but the trailer definitely ruined the whole first half. It made everything predictable until the end. I also kept getting confused about if he was really crazy or if they were making him think he was. I want to see it again, such a good movie.

he was acting at the end... He had not retrogressed yet, but he wanted to DIE as someone who he thought was good, rather then LIVING on knowing he was a murderer. so he played along with it.

i loved the movie, but im so happy i did not smoke before. I would have died in paranoia.

i saw it and was disappointed. the trailer made it seem like something it totally wasn't and I just was let down I guess. Great directing and leo was good as always but i just felt like it was eh...so-so afterwards.

saw it last night, yeah yeah a lil late. The trailer doesnt make it seem like it is. Id say he was crazy the whole time and if you go through and watch it again you will notice little things. Like when the guards clutch there weapons its because its his first time that hes freely able to wander and he a dangerous person. you can also notice that all the patients wave to him because obviously they already know who he is. Then when hes questioning people and he is questioning the girl who axed her husband you will notice that everything is kind of scripted and when she says doctor whatever his name is who left the island is easy on the eyes it flashes to his doctor who he thinks is his partner, Also they werent expecting him to ask about leattus so they hadnt scripted something about it and the lady kind of freaked out about it. Then in the end I think he overcomes his world he created and realizes that he surronded himself in fantasy but he doesnt really want to live with what he had done, thats why when "chuck" was yelling out teddy he didnt respond. He knew he was leattus and he didnt want to have memory of what he did and just wanted to die as what he thought was a good person. Just my 2 centss
