-Moment meridian tour 107 with cast binding system. Just mounted these to be my lighter touring ski for most teton pass and gtnp days. Cast toepieces are interchangable with the three leftmost skis pictured

-line SFB 108 with cast. Love these for spring skiing. Got them a few years ago for a mt hood spring season. I ride them midwinter too when it hasnt snowed in a week. All mountain cruisers, park laps, beer laps and for backyard park fun.

-moment bibby pro 118 with cast. Favorite all time daily driver ski for the last decade and I finally have a touring setup on em. These are 186 length... broke my 192s last year. All skis are rock skis, right?

-Igneous 122 Asym customs with the og cast system. I admit these cost more than the rest of the quiver combined. But at their 7 years and ~200 days of use these bombproof skis have held up in excellent shape. They are still my go-to for most midwinter pow days and big ob missions, so I’m more than satisfied with this quality setup. It’s also worth it to me to support local ski shops and ski builders. Anyway, awesome unique skis.

-Armada La Gorda ARG 133s with sth16 bindings. Got these fat ladies for the upsidedown high avy days when I’m staying inbounds and want bounce on top of heavy wet snow.

Essentially a four ski quiver as I’ll likely only bust out the gordas a few times. I slimmed down the quiver by breaking bibby 192s and retiring old skilogic howitzer touring skis last year. And had atomic automatics stolen at the end of the season. Hoping for better luck this year as this one of my best starting lineups.

Sick quiver.

Judging by the number of skis with CAST and mention of OG CAST system I take it you really like the cast system?

Really tempted to mount on a pair of moment wildcats or similar for the season. It would be a nice bonus to have the ability to ski hard in bounds without hesitation and I’m still on the fence about the shifts. Do you notice much difference between a CAST converted binding and a regular mounted pivot? Not too finicky swapping toes in snow?

Thanks yeah I’m a big fan of what Lars and Silas have done with their binding hardware. Their current system has a very thin plate under the toes... the height difference is unnoticeable to me. I do notice a weight difference with the heavier din 18 toes and heel risers compared to regular mounted din 14 pivots (less metal parts).

The more recent models solved the finicky icing issue. Super easy to swap toes with the newer (last 4 years I think) models. When swapping from touring I jam my tails into snow so I’m not bent over and less likely to drop a toepiece into pow. It gets quicker and less awkward with practice. But compared to shifts or really any other touring binding, cast bindings do take extra time to transition. Imo well worth a little extra weight and time for the durability and performance benefits.

Those CRJs are so sick, I love the tail shape on those. Idk if its the same on your year, but is that tail super tapered? Close to a pin?

Appreciate the detailed response. I’m already on pivot 18’s most of the time so I’m wondering if the weight difference for plate and risers will really be that big of a deal. Need to do some thinking. Thanks!

Some of you have a lot of skis. If I'm flying, I figure I can get in 2 pairs of skis, 3 tops, and stay under the 50 pound weight limit for checked luggage.

Most people can get along well enough with two to three pairs of skis: one park and pipe/all mountain, one pow ski, and maybe a detuned ski for hitting rails. If your pow days are limited to a couple days a season, it might be cheaper to rent or borrow than buy.

Truth. I have so many skis, it's becomes a burden. Partly because I don't let go easy, even if they are old. If they still have life in them (torsional rigidity etc.) then why throw them away? Sometimes I like to show up with some ancient sticks, and throw down on them. People freak out!

Skiing, Boarding............it's all riding snow! In many of my videos, I joke about hating boarders, but everyone should know it's a joke! That said, get on those skis!

I am a grandfather of luge skateboarding, so respect to skateboarders. Again, your "shrine" set up is the shit!

Don't worry about that, that's easily doable these days. I'm old enough I could easily add a new pair to the quiver every year but I don't, a good middle ground ski can do it all and I like getting super used to one or two pairs rather than switching around all the time

These are my everyday skis,

-Armada JJ UL for pow and backcountry

-Armada ARV 96 ti for resort

plus a pair of rock skis, a couple race skis that I know that none of you care about and a pair of tandem skis
 
Here are the Tandem Skis. Old pair of 191 Volkl Mantaras with some old Salomon Driver Bindings. I made them for the pond Skim at Mt bachelor a couple years ago and ended up getting across the pond and winning the comp with my buddy

I completely agree. Pretty disappointed they were discontinued for 2021, I wanna pick up another pair before they become impossible to find in a few years. Not enough companies make stiff and powerful skis that are still playful like the ARV ti
