Shout out to Backcountry.com

Alright, i know that a lot of people, including myself, have some really mixed feelings about backcountry.com. The fact that they are taking over Mom and Pop business's is really a big deal, and they have also sold out to a home shopping network type company (http://www.sys-con.com/node/372170)

But with the economy, and the price of ski gear, Backcountry has really done some great things. Mainly, their ODAT (One Deal At a Time) sites and their amazing customer service

So here's my reason for writing this:

The other day i say this jacket on SAC, the Marmot Meta Softshell. It was so nice, its looking like a hoody on roids with WindStopper. The jacket retailed for $200, but it was on SAC for $81. Unfortunatly the color i wanted sold out and of course, i was pissed. Today the jacket was up again, and again, the color i wanted was sold out, but i had a plan. I have delt with backcountry before and i know how they work.

So i went ahead and ordered the jacket in a kinda of puke yellow color so i could get the jacket at the SAC price, and i knew i could just cancel the order. I then called up and told them that i ordered one color, but i really wanted another. They had about 300 of these jackets in stock on their normal website, including the color i wanted, and so i figured it wouldnt be a problem. i had some trouble at first, but then i called back and asked for a manager. I did not even have to argue about it, he said alright, whats your order number and bam, switched the one i ordered for the one i wanted (which sold out on SAC but not on BC.com). I am so stoked to get it.

As well as the strings they can pull, they always hook me up with free shipping, spending $50 or not, and i can usually get 2-day. Their return policay is amazing, i recently returned a water-resistant sweatshirt because the resistance died out after a while, and i got a new one for free, 4 days after sending the old one back. I suggest you guys talk to someone on the Gear Chat before you buy anything, just ask if they can hook you up with free shipping and maybe 10% off if its at full price. doesnt hurt to ask.

Spark Notes: As bad as backcountry may seem, they have hooked me up several times and are really great for consumers in this terrible economy

I have always thought extremely highly of Backcountry. Everything I bought has been excellent and the service is ridiculous. Keep it up Backcountry.

BC.com is the best place ever, they always have coupon codes, the customer service is amazing, and the return policy/100% guarantee is unreal

honestly i dont know how they do that return policy but by god i LOVE it!

i talked with some guy on gear chat about how my nikwax waterproofing bottle broke and he said no problem and sent me a new one, just like that. sooo damn helpful and amazing. i honestly love them, ahha

yeah, i dont understand how they can afford it, theoretically you could buy skis, use em for a couples seasons, then send them back and end up only paying shipping...

So wait, they just sent you a brand new Nikwax? i was told that you need to send it back, like i asked if i dropped my goggles or a glove off a chair and couldnt get them, how would i use the warranty? and supposedly you can't, but i will ask about it next time

and yeah, everytime i see something i go check it out on BC, they always have reviews or something helpful, and everything on their site is really organized

yup. the top little thing broke off the sprayer so it won't work and the guy was super nice and just said no problem ill put another one in the mail tomorrow. i just had to give him my order number, didnt have to give pictures or send anything back or nothin. pretty damn cool if you ask me

thats so sick... you could abuse that so easily until someone figures it out... just keep saying it broke and keep getting new ones. but like, they make it seems that if you use it all up, you could be like "hey, this stuff didnt last long enough, im not satisfied, i want a new one or a refund"

but i love them, when ever im going to buy something, and BC may not have the best price, i take the warranty into consideration

iv got a question.

i have never dealt with bc.com's warranty and i bought a jacket from them this year. if by the end of the season the jacket had a few rips and it was all dirty and the seams were coming apart, could i send it back to them and get it warrantied and get a brand new jacket?

please answer. and does this warrenty only apply to bc.com or to their other sites like dogfunk, sac td, wm etc.

backcountry = the tits

ive ordered over a grand of stuff from them this year and no problems what so ever.

Yeah, just go on a live chat or call them, tell them the jackets not looking so good and you want to send it back for a new one, you should have no problems.

And yeah, BC, DF, SAC, TD, WM and what ever else they own all have the same warranty. There are some rules about the ODAT sites though, but you can always get a refund

I think we should all list what we've bout so far from any backcountry site. especially if you bought a grand of stuff, i wanna see what it is :) prices on each item too?

that would be pretty dick but yes it is possible.

i am curious as to how many people abuse this type of thing. i mean, what if i feel like skiing pow this weekend, and dont want to on my anthems? haha pow skis for the weekend

^^^^if the jackets ripped and the seams are breaking, i dont think sending it back would be dick.

i dont abuse like buy something for a trip then send it back... but like, the water-resistant sweatshirt i got lost its water resistance, so i sent it back for a new one after a year

i never knew that you could abuse this warrenty so much. im not saying im going to but wow. with a $240 jacket for $150 and a new one at the end of the season, im happy.

well if the jacket quality was bad and not as expected then no. but if he wears it for a year and nothings wrong with it (besides the common wear/tear signs), then decides he doesn't want it and sends it back for $$ back, thats pretty dick..

Another +++ for BC. I bought a thule rack and used it for about 10 days at which point it broke. So i pulled up a live chat or whatever its called and they took it back in pieces without any questions. They also refunded me a pair of binding brakes i didn't use even though i had lost the screws.

To the OP, I agree that backcountry.com is a very legit operation, but it sounds like you're taking advantage of their generosity and lenient customer service policies. Returning a sweatshirt after it's been washed and the water repellency starts to decrease? C'mon, that's kinda weak. Obviously, with how much business they do, your antics aren't really much of a concern to them, but it still seems wrong to me.

well it lost its water repelency way before a year, it lost it fairly quick infact. But when i had gone to look to exchange it, they had about two in stock, and they were weird colors and not my size. i figured i would never be able to return it for a new one. but the other day i took a look, and they had the color and size i wanted. So i had to send it back, i had to take advantage of it. their warranty says satisfaction guaranteed, and i wasnt happy with how short it too for the water repelency to go bad so i dont think it was that bad to return it

its still there
they just appear to sell bike apparel tho, thats what its been all day.

bonk town is strictly rode bike shit.
