Should we use a song in edit that have been used before?

i agree about that for sure, the reason why I thought that one in particular was kinda sus is because the song is pretty unknown and it was used in one of the bigger skate vids of the last decade. song abds doesn’t necessarily matter in amateur vids, but if you are paid to make a vid of some of the best skiing out there,I think you should make an effort to find untouched gems.

song for reference

I think it depends really. If you don't skate you would never know that video existed. I know I've never seen it before just cuz I'm not tapped in to the skating world. But if I took a song from a Sean Kelso video it would definitely be jacking a song because I'm super tapped in to that realm.

For the example you gave, idk if any of the ON3P guys in that video skate so it could have been genuine coincidence. They're not like T Fitz where they are like very obviously invested in the skateboarding world. Just my thoughts

definitely agree on that, but would be surprised if they acc found that song by themselves. looks like 95% of the comments, including me came from blessed

This is a topic I think about more than I should, but interesting since music can make or break a video. To me, same song different sport is generally okay, although I personally would try to avoid it. I don't skate but wish I could, so I watch a lot of videos for reference. Some videos do "own" a song if iconic enough. I like the approach Nike took in their Constant video at the end where they used Still the Same by Bob Seger, likely a tribute to Night Moves being used in Pretty Sweet. If done well, same artist but different song can make people nostalgic for an iconic part but still maintain its own uniqueness.
