with the addition of snowboard pipe a few years ago, i think it is only fair that ski would make it into the olympics as well, but i am not sure that is where i want skiing to go. olympic team issue tall tees, however, would be pretty dope.

that would b pretty cool and i think it should 2 cuz really who likes curling... people would watch an action sport over that any day. and us team issue tall tees would b pretty sick i think lol

obviously it should be in the olympics that would be so dope but it would just be like 1 person from most of the countries in Europe and like 10 from the US

during the olympics, whenever I would tell (distant) family members I ski, they would say, "You mean snowboard right? That like Shaun White guy??" so it might be good to get freeskiings name out there a bit, but on the other hand I don't want it to get really popular among the people we would rather have stay out of the sport

i think this threads name should change to "WHY should ski pipe/slope be an olympic sport?"because believe it or not this is a skiing thread, so why the hell would anyone say "aw hell no skiing is lame and should most certainly not be part of the olympics!"

A lot of skiers dont think it should be in the Olympics. There's already enough complaints about the judges at the X Games and odds are the judges at the olympics would be even worse. There's no way they could get a multi-national team of judges. That being said, if snowboarding get's a pipe event skiing ought to as well. It's a different atmosphere though, there wouldn't be tall t's and hyphy sponsors and shit. It would be Tommy Hilfinger and Under Armor (the moguls teams setups were fuckin embarassing).

why not its one of the fastest growing sports and once they are in the olympics communities will be stoked to make it more widely available for the public like putting in public snowflex rail setups and shit just like they did for skateparks. now you can skate literally everywhere in california at least where I am.

I hope they only get half-pipe. If they got big-air it would turn into even more of a huckfest then it already is, with zero recognition of style.

ya, but almost worse is the fact that arials is in the olympics, because that does not represent skiing whatsoever. I'm sure it takes ridiculous skill and a lost of nuts, but who, other than the olympic people actually do that?

Whatever, for what it is, it's sick. Who cares if it represents skiing or not. Hockey doesn't represent skiing either, neither does bobsled, figure skating, or the hammer throw, and they all are in the Olympics.
Halfpipe skiing should and will be in the Olympics, but you don't have to shit-talk aerials.
Out of every acrobatic endeavour in existence (eg: trampoline, gymnastics, diving, etc.), aerials is the pinnacle as far as the amount of flipping and spinning through the air that a human has ever achieved, so give some respect where it's due, even if it's not the type of jumping that we are into.

i thin that we saw that boarderX was the most enjoyable event to watch this year so i think it wont be to long before people want more action sports

When you say "a lot of skiers" do you mean actual halfpipe competitors? I'm guessing not. From everything I've read, all the serious competitors want it in the Olympics. I've heard that snowboard slopestyle is going into 2014 but because ski slopestyle doesn't have World Cups that it won't be considered. Halfpipe skiing seems to be almost a sure thing. It's too bad taht snowboarding will gain more attention overall, even though slopestyle skiers are killing it. It would be cool to have both halfpipe and slopestyle included for both.

skiing in the Olympics would make shawn white look bad because of the bigger better tricks. thats why there is snowboarding and not skiing!

What!?

Of course they don't represent skiing... they don't SKI!

Ariels on the other-hand is a skiing sport, even though it doesn't accurately represents today's skiing, it is still skiing!!

And yes skiers Pipe should be in the Olympics, bring the best sport to the world!

No-one will ever want to watch snowboarding again, sorry correction: no-one wants to watch snowboarding.

ya i dont understand why your asking this on a 99% park/pipe skiing community site. Everyone wants it with the few exceptions and they gotta have tall tees!!!

Problem is, if they make the rules as strict as the FIS (right organization?), shit's gonna suck hard.

Well I don't see how that's a problem, I'm more concerned about how they might possibly judge the athletes. I don't want it judged similarly to moguls.
