Listen ns,

I'm asking you guys this because I saw a post that brought up the fact that you should ski really well before skiing park. I have been skiing for about four maybe five years. I've progressed really fast over the years and feel confident on most Northeast trails. (I skied Lies at Gore well for reference). I have not skied a glade yet, but I want to. Recently, I have been spending alot of time at the park and bought my self a pair of Ar7's. Do I continue to progress in on trail stuff and glades or have I earned the right to ski park? Or do I just spread my time out evenly?

Thanks dudes and dudets

i dont know where you saw this, but this couldnt be further from the truth haha

I used to snowboard switched over last year in the very start. When I went to ski it was right into the park because that's what I did when I boarded. Personally I didn't give a shit about actually skiing; the park was fun and that's where I wanted to be. I made a summer setup and progressed and had fun and then the middle of this year I got sick of doing tricks for some reason... I went into the moguls with my buddy and had a blast the rest of the season.

The spring setup is up and I'm having a blast progressing. I am interested in all forms of skiing and I think it is all fun

Basically just do what you want, but know that there are all kinds of styles of skiing. Be optimistic Make a goal to be good at it all, but do what is "funner" for you; that's what skiing really is.

First year I skied I went straight to the park because thats what i knew I wanted to do. It worked out. With hard work and determination you can get really good at park really fast, just work through it. Watching videos 24/7 can honestly make you catch on to things quicker, just surrounding yourself with park skiing makes you more aware and progress faster. Video review is a great way to get better.

Honestly park is super fun and doesn't ever get boring but also regular skiing can be super fun too. Up to you homie just have fun at it

You don't have to earn the right to ski park, you should just be able to ski atleast descent before heading into it, it doesn't matter if you can do every rail in the park but look like crap in between them. Every park skier should be able to ski at least every blue trail on the mountain comfortably if not every black

It sure is nice to take a bomber run (in control) here and there and you may want to widen your spectrum, but if skiing park brings you joy then keep it up. You can pick more than one.

Whatever you want, skiing all mtn will make you more comfortable in the park, but park is endless fun because there is so much variety

Do whatever you want to. You're at a good all mountain level to start skiing park. I don't think you shoulda dropped a ton of money on Armadas though. You shoulda got them once you decided park was the direction you wanted to take your skiing.

Nah dude they were used and pretty cheap, I've used them in and out of the park and they're great.

Do whatever you want man..no one is stopping you. Just know that being a good park skier has zero connection to being a good skier. If you can't make proper turns, good technique, etc...eventually when your body can't take all day park skiing you will look like a baffoon because you cant ski.

This.

Also, park skiing is a lot more fun when you have a solid background of good ski technique. You can't carve into tricks if you can't carve, both forward and switch, for example.

Ski both. Park skiing looks a lot better when the person doing it is a good overall skier, and landing is much easier when you are already comfortable on your feet. I have some friends that went straight to skiing park and while they can get jiggy on rails they look pretty bad on jumps, even if they can huck some big tricks. There is nothing actually wrong with skiing park first, it's just harder. Follow your heart OP, I'm rooting for you.
