Should I Get a Cat?

So for my little bro's birthday my parents are considering getting my family a cat. My parents will heavily weigh my opinion when making the final decision and I have to say I am torn. When I was young I had a cat, a stray we took in, and being younger I had more time to spend with it, and really liked having a pet. Now it seems like every weekend I am skiing or at a regatta/game and every weekday is consumed with school and summer jobs. Is the reward of having a cat worth the responsibilities/cost? Have any of you gotten a pet but found you have had problems spending enough time with it?

In my experience, cats DGAF if you spend time with them as long as you dump some kibble and water in their bowls at the end of the day.
 
Not sure I even understand the question. It's your little bros birthday, but you are having to pay for the cost of the cat/take care of it and spend time with it? Dafuq, if you are living with your whole family there will not be a shortage of time spent with it. Do you want there to be a cat at your house whenever you are home? That's the real question OP
 
If you havta ask NS about getting a pet you prob shouldn't get one, but if its a family pet I say go for it. Look for an active breed cause lazy cats are fucking lame
