Should I center mount my skis?

Hello NS. I am debating whether I should keep my ski bindings how they are or center mount them. Pros/cons of center mounted bindings? And will I lose carving capabilities?

They are an off brand ski called zuma. They are pretty flexible and are 165. I should probably just get new skis next season.

I always center mount mine cause I'm retarded but go like 1 or 2 back if you get snow every once in a while. Where do you ski

Go 1 back if you ever plan to ski outside of park with them. It’s perfectly fine in the park in every way, and makes them good outside of the park

I'd you ski pow in and pow I'd mount them one back. Also depend if u plan on buying park skis next year cause then theres no reason to center mount the skis now if they will be used in pow

If you're skiing only (or 90-95%) park then go for centered. If you still go from times to times in pow/groomers, I'd recommend setting your bindings from -1 to -3 cm

Don’t center mount them if you ever ski fresh snow, basically. Landing cliffs and skiing soft snow is much worse on center mounts

It entirely depends on the ski and where you ride, but generally centre mounting is going to make the ski less fun everywhere but the park. The distance behind centre that you'll hit your sweet spot depends on how far back the recommended line (usually centre of the sidecut) is originally. 1-2cm back on a super directional ski is still gonna ski like shit around the mountain, but 1cm back on a more symmetrical park ski might feel better.

Regardless of the impact on carving, you'll notice it'll be weird having more tail and less nose and might find quick tight turns harder and that your tips dive in any kind of crud or uneven snow, let alone anything fresh. I wouldn't personally go centre or even -1 unless you have another ski for ripping around the rest of the mountain (or you really don't plan on ripping around the rest of the mountain often).

I skied 2 feet of whistler blower pow on center mounted LINE tw pros. I survived, actually fine, accept my thighs were dead after.

All depending on what you wanna ride gringo. Recommended mount will keep your tips up and you'll still be able to ride park, but dead center is your best option if you plan to spend most of your days in the park. Have fun

Depends on the ski imo. A ski with a symmetrical sidecut will behave fine, because you will have the narrowest point of the ski under foot, and it will be easier to initiate edge and flex the ski in a carve. I also recommend that you very clearly explain, and if you can, have a shop tech measure the ski so you know exactly where your bindings will be mounted. Personally, I have a pair of head caddys, center mounted and a pair of 2016 BDogs, .5cm behind center. If it helps, I'd be able to ski gates in a GS course on my Heads if they had sharp edges, but again, they are mounted pretty close to their sidecut center. If you're unsure, I'd recommend you go 1-2cm behind true center. There are many other factors that trained ski techs will know more about but that's my basic understanding of mount points.
