Should I be concerned about this?

Got my new skis a bit banged up. Never had this particular injury happen to my sticks. Can anyone give me some advice, should I wait til end of the season to take them to a shop? Should I just ptex and clamp? Or can it just be ignored? The damage is on the tip of the ski. Thanks for looking!

That's not too bad. Only thing to be concerned about is water getting to the core from there. If you want you could take it to a shop and ask them to epoxy/clamp it down just to be safe.
 
Ya I was kinda thinking water penetrating might be an issue. Appreciate the response my dude. I wonder if I could fix it myself...? Money is tight right now (although when isn't it)

Yeah you def could, it's not rocket science. Using epoxy is best but a real solid wood glue would do that same in terms of waterproofing. Just apply it to the area, get it in the crack if you can, throw some painters tape on there and clamp in down for 24hrs. Use an exact o knife to shave off excess when it's dry. The shop I'm at wouldn't charge more than $15 CAD (or some beer) for that kinda work but everywhere is different
 
Get yourself some West System G-Flex epoxy and coat the "dent" heavily. Wait 24-48 hours and file/sand down as needed.

The epoxy is hard as a rock and prevents future separation as well as improving durability.

I coated both the very tips and tails of my old Vishnu skis with epoxy and they've held up very well.

It's the amber coating... ugly but the tips are SOLID

This but you want to clamp it down with some blocks and 'C' clamps to get it closer to normal shape. You can heat the area and the epoxy with a hair dryer to make it thinner to get further into the cracks. Then clamp tight and let cure 24 hours in a warm dry spot, cut and sand of the excess.
 
Not the best advice but I did that to some armadas years ago and kept skiing them. They looked worse too. Never touched it up or epoxied. Skied then for like1-2 years after and they only died when I finally pulled an edge out underfoot

so unfortunately that's cancer stage 1 for the ski.

It will get progressively worse and at some point will delam aggressively.

But you can do a lot to extend its lifespan. First i'd recommend 2-3 rivets on the nose for safety & general tightness and then just keep sealing the gap so that as others previously described, the water wont make it worse.

You will have to take care of the ski from now on and probably reseal it multiple times, eventually the nose will get flatter but whatever ski will be still fine to hit park.

1036791.jpeg It's all sealed up!!! I just used the strongest epoxy I could find. It looks pretty good to me. Hopefully I can squeeze a couple more seasons out of them. They are definitely better than they were! Thanks everyone for the help!
