Shop flex

Something about this year. I have family friend who's an architect and has been freehand mounting my skis with me for 5 years now, never had any issues, and yet somehow this year we fucked up the mount and mounted the skis with 2 different points. We remounted one ski, and it's no biggie. and the skis are big boys so structure isn't compromised and you can't even see that it was screwed up unless you look at it very sharply without me on them. Still, this year has been bad juju for ski mounts.
 
Probably got a full 8hr day of drilling coming up tomorrow, stoked to set up a bunch of backwards twintips and center mount some DPS's
 
I mounted 2 of my skis today and only spun one screw so I’m pretty stoked. Usually get tired and impatient and end up fucking stuff up, but didn’t ruin these so lfg

I have 2 spinners this year, and 1 bad jig.... not a great year for mounting :p
 
question, do you guys bother to tap 4.1 holes and metal topsheets before screws? or just.. ugga dugga through it?

I did one with metal yesterday (my first mount on a ski with metal in it actually) and my tech said he usually does for customers but it’s not necessary, plus my ski has a super thin layer of titanal (not the super thick sheets a la Nordica Enforcer/old Volkl skis) so I didn’t and it seems fine. I hand tightened them after using a drill at 12 or so and they seem Gucci but I will update once I ski them
 
I had an unreplaceable pair of straight skis that i was getting 3 pin tele bindings mounted on, and the guy at the shop mounted 1 of them a full inch farther forward than the other one. I suspect that was the one day he wasn't stoned at work.
 
my roommate was doing 80-100 pairs a day for 10-14 days straight during black friday/cyber week a couple years back. your feat is not impressive.

Ive done both. Honestly I haven’t had issues just ugga dugga-ing.
