Had the opportunity to film our visuals for our recent song on a Red One MX that was rented thru my school (U of T film). I hope you enjoy, Cheers!

How did you like it,

That video was pretty cool or at least i liked the song but i thought there was to many film burns thoughtout the video like there was sooo many! but other than that i downloaded the song and want to hear about your experience with the RED One MX

Not sure what in your mind told you that putting that much fucking film burn in a video was legitimate.

Also, I'm gonna be 100% honest here, it looks like you could've shot that on a 7D. Maybe upload to vimeo @1080 and ill watch it again but nothing really stood out to me visually in that video at all, it was meh, didn't look like it was shot on a RED.

.

sorry man, but i would have guessed it was shot on a 7D (T2i/T3i/60D/etc.) for sure if i hadn't read the thread title. shots were blown out, colors were flat, the RED is capable of a lot more. i would suggest testing it out extensively on your own before doing another shoot so you can really dial it in and make it look its best.

other than that it was a decent music video.

It's more than just flat colors... they seem so meh like it was shot on a dslr, ya know? they dont exactly need to be vivid but REDs just have such a high bit rate and resolution so i dunno, they just look alot different.

i think there's a big difference between a 'cool' flat color look and what was in the above video. if it's gonna be flat, it should at least have good image detail (especially considering it's a RED), and the sky was very blown out in many shots.

i also think the flat look needs to have a little red or blue in the blacks to make it interesting. this was just kind of how it would look if you turned contrast and saturation all the way down on a DSLR and called it good.

To clear up some of the issues here,

I am currently in Germany and only shot the scenes for the video. It was given to some other people for post production, along with the upload. When I questioned why it could not be on Vimeo to display the quality they gave me a pretty bogus answer. I agree that the film burns were over done.

I only recorded the song and cut rough scenes with the camera. I enjoyed the freeflow of the lens, however, when moving it required an extra man to stabilize the focus. It captures the flat colours better than previous cameras I have worked with.
