this ought to get good.

and it sounds like the shootings were done with automatic weapons... Which are banned. So not sure why it's an issue of gun control when the shooters appear to have used guns which are already illegal.

I've applied recently for a concealed carry permit. I would rather fight than die at the hands of one of these morons. Criminals will get guns no matter what because guess what...THEY DONT FOLLOW THE LAW. Not to mention average people don't do things like this. These are sick individuals.

I'm willing to bet that more than 90% of people who have a concealed carry on them would not fight back in a situation like this, even though I'm sure most have similar sentiments as you.

So why make any laws if criminals don't follow them? Cut down the number of gun that can be bought at a garage sales and you can cut down the amount that will be stolen and sold. Not saying ban all guns as everyone also thinks when I say gun control gun control isn't banning them.

Look man, I sympathize, but you are wasting your time.

It is one of this issues that is way past the debate point. I mean it's been around forever, everybody knows the facts and figures on the matter, and everybody made their mind on gun control already. No amount of reasoning or debating is going to change anyone's stance at this point.

I'm sure you make a poll before the creation of another gun control thread, and after 5 pages, nobody changed their fucking mind. I know it can be frustrating but you have to let it go.

Or you could walk up to his house and shoot him.

Or we can just do with the Australian Government did, that seemed to fix the problem, and they went against their own voting base. This isn't an opinion its facts and you have people who don't want to accept those facts which I still don't understand why.

This is always such a bullshit statement. The amount of people who have stopped mass shootings compared to the amount of mass shootings is pretty damn low. And those that have stopped mass shootings with guns has always had some form of either police or military training. It's all well and good to sit behind a computer and act like you're bloody clint eastwood but when push comes to shove I highly doubt you would try to stop a mass shooting.

And because gun debates are fun. America for the love of god just take up Switzerland's gun policy. You can own a gun but you must go through basic training and be approved by a doctor and other shit. I have to spend 120 hours behind a car with an instructor before I can get my license but I can buy a gun as soon as I turn 18. If that statement isn't scary I don't know what is.

So which is it? Are the people doing these shootings hardened criminals, or just mentally ill? As far as I can tell, the people committing these shootings are almost never hardened criminals with a long list of felonies to their name. Their one time criminals who happen to choose to commit an extremely violent, extremely deadly crime. It seems like a big jump to just assume that they would have the connections or desire to get guns illegally if they were forced to.

Also, the whole "well they'll get guns anyway, so why change any laws?" argument is insane to me. Even if they would get their weapons illegally, why does that mean we shouldn't even make an effort to stop them?

If someone really wanted to break into your house, do you think they would be able to find a way to do so, even if the door is locked?

If we agree on the same thing then I think it's safe to say it's the correct side.

If you buy a handgun and walk around with a concealed carry permit to stop a terrorist you are much more likely to have that gun used on you either by another person. Or you or you child killing yourself or itself with it.

There is no comparison. This was an organized and planned terrorist attack, carried out by seemingly "sane" individuals who were most likely motivated by Islam, Islamic terrorism and Islamic terrorist organizations. Focused on inflicting the most significant number of casualties. ISIS has taken to Twitter to praise the attack.

Robert Dear, a lone mentally-ill hermit who lived in a trailer and had no contact with anyone. Went ballistic and shot three people at a Planned Parenthood. Labeled himself as a "woman" on his voting sheet.

But your confirmation bias is hilarious. A shooter with a foreign sounding name =whole entire religion guilty and clearly they aren't mentally ill at all and have full reasoning for their actions. But a white christian male shoots up planned parenthood then clearly he is mentally ill. Because you know christians have never ever been terrorists ever...

It's clear that Robert Lewis Dear was drawn by the actions of the Army of God and wished up to carry on their work. By terrorising planned parenthood and ensuring that they are scared enough to never perform any more abortions ever. Robert clearly see's it as his duty to protect all of God's life. Well that's what I would say if I was trying to be like you but replace Islam with Christianity.

Violence and terrorism is far and away more prevalent amongst the followers of the prophet. This is not a coincidence, so please stop pretending that it is. Or you can go full-Obama and bring up the crusades and inquisition.
