My mom lost $100,000 when the market crashed... I'm speechless.

She hasn't sold so she hasn't really lost the money yet, but the value is gone.

Scary shit, glad we're both employed.

Denver's economy is good.It is what you make of it. I am still very busy at work and there are lots of people spending money here.
 
Yeah, but you can't expect it to get better. People are still going to spend money at the resorts, but don't have high hopes like in recent years. If I didn't have faith in the economy of the ski industry then I wouldn't be moving to Keystone at the end of the month.
 
ya utah's economy is still strong. and there are always niches that do well in down markets. can't deny the economy is sketchier than it's ever been. we're in unfamiliar territory. worst real estate market in 30 years.
 
it makes me feel bad though that people are un-employed and kids cant buy food and im worried about whether ill ski in coloraod this year...
 
yea, pretty much every day i got econ my teacher spend an hour and a half talking about how much are generation sucks and how screwed we are.
 
Yup, my dad lost about 1/3 of my college fund. And my brother and his wife are financial advisors, and they had one guy who pretty much had retired with 3 million, and lost 1 million of it in a couple weeks.....
 
yea my grandpa lost 40% of his retirement fund already. Just dont sell the stocks will eventually come back up hopefully.
 
Yep, give it a few years.

My father has lost over 1/4 of his superannuation (retirement money), now he's going to have to work for another 5 years to get it back..

I'm not looking forward to the job market at the start of next year, i'm due to graduate from university at the end of the year.
 
shit that fucking blows. gas prices are so fucking low now though its like a dollar instead of 1.50
 
my dad lost 80k in his 401K in the past month.

i lost 15K in my edvest for college.. >_< state schools here i come...fuck.
