Shipping is a pain

does anyone have any advise on how to get cheaper international shipping (specifically saga), living in nz, it's going to cost me $75 usd to buy a $40 jacket, just because of shipping.

that's 87.5% of the cost of the jacket, which makes me wonder how sellers on sites like aliexpress manage to do all the free shipping on a piece of junk that costs $0.70

Unfortunately there aren't any lifehax that make international shipping cheaper that I'm aware of. $75 really isn't steep for a saga jacket btw...
 
Do you local brands or stores so you don't have to pay so much for shipping? That Saga jacket was made in Asia and shipped to North America and the cost of that trip is already included in the $40. Pay again to send it to NZ and most of what you are paying for is shipping and handling.
 
I'd agree shipping is a pain living in NZ. At least you can get it shipped though. Some sites won't even ship here.
 
Well if the jacket was full price, $120, then your shipping cost is only ~25% of the cost, but still, you're talking about a small company that can't just offer free shipping to NZ. Sure companies like aliexpress, amazon etc can offer free shipping because they get huge package deals with shipping companies, they pay way less than a company like saga. Also, those huge online stores sell millions of dollars in merch, so they have more money to toss around and can take a loss on a $1 item to satisfy the customer. If you want the jacket from the small USA company, you're just gonna have to pay for it.
 
places like aliexpress can charge such a small amount for shipping because it's gonna take like 4-6 weeks on a slowboat from China to actually show up
 
Only thing I can think of is to find somebody heading down to NZ frm the states for the summer. They will all be leaving in a week or two theough a month from now. Ship it to them and buy them beer for bringing it.
 
having had a good read of these replies, I feel that yea, its a steal and a sweet brand, and when i get the cash i'll be back for the jacket, but i just can't justify the price atm

P.s.kudos to SAGA for making sick as gear, you should get more shops in nz to sell it.
