SHINBANG

I use last years salomon SPK pro model boot and after 2 or 3 days of skiing the park for about 6 hours my shins hurt to the point where I cant even walk, the doctor told me to take som days off cause my shins are so enflamed. If anyone has any tips or similar experiences with shinbang can you help me out cuz I dont want it to effect my skiing the way it is now.

the only thing you can do is ice your shins. i usually ice my shins 3 or 4 times a day wen i have shinbang. once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once before i sleep. and then i go skiing the next day and it helps a lot. dont put your boots on too tight either. keep them at a pretty tight yet sort of comfortable fit

booster straps. i got a pair yesterday and they helped a ton. yesterday was even a horrible day for me cause i had a ton of backseat landings and my shins barely hurt.

maybe its just a sign skiing isnt for you and you should take up snow skating or poker

dawg i get the same thing.... i thought spks were supposed to prevent shinbang but every xmas break i cant walk after 3 days of skiing

i need booster straps

you gotta get boots that fit, go to a boot fitter, and sell your old boots, its gonna be spendy but that or Shintonic(lot cheaper than new boots) are probably the only things that will really help you much

but for now that you already have shinbang massuage your shins with ice and strech your calfs

as a boot fitter. if ur getting shin bang in an SPK then you have the wrong size. most likely too big. last and most ugly is that ur actually not very good, and are still landing back seat like a mother trucker. but mostly likely is that the ur boots are too big.

landing backseat isnt the issue, i got them for christmas last year in a bigger size so id grow into them this year... there 29 1/2s but there still a little big but not huge, thanks for all the help

get a lax ball and hold a couple layers of cloth over it. using the smoothest side push as hard as you can into your shin where it hurts. if there's like knots then go back and forth over them really slowly like your trying to undo the knot. otherwise just go up and down there it hurts really slowly.

also do the same thing behind your shin, at like 4 and 8 oclock i'm guessing those muscles may have some pain too so run the ball there slowly too.

may sound counter-intuitive but shit helps like crazy. anytime i get shin splints i ice then do this and the morning after i've felt perfect everytime. still soreness on those backmuscles but you know feel those landing backseat, woken up to perfect shins everytime

i had the same problem and i got heel lifts.it helps cuz now i am naturally leanin forward and my shins cant move as much. they are like 40bucks but it worked for me.

although this isn't a cure for shinbang once you have it (all you can do is wait for it to go away in a day or two) but strap your boots up as tight as possible and your shins will be right against the front of your boot, not constantly slamming into them

everyone i know that has spks has said that they are terrible for shin bangwhat you can do tho is mainyl just ice thembut before and after you go skiing youcan stretch themget 2 i guess boards of wood and put one on top of the other so its inthe shape of a ramp kindaand you can stand on it and lean forward and it will stratch yoir shins out

I used to have the same problem with my SPKs (well, all boots) and tried so many things to get rid of it. Turns out it was actually from riding backseat, because although they are still big on me now I can't afford new boots, but I havent had one inch of shinbang in over a year. And seriously do try landing switch more if you can't not land backseat

wear your boots as tight as you can. the less your legs can move inside the boots the better. essentially, if your boots are too big, then your shins will have a large amount of room to move resulting in shin bang.
