Shin splints help?!? +k

when you sit in class and are bored as hell, write the outline of the alphabet with each foot. it works out the muscles in your shins and prevents splints from happening. and maybe check out some new shoes.

i had them terrible this season went to the hospital...
anyway get booster straps, ice them, bring your boots to a ski shop, u may need smaller boots, land switch more. or just look into getting a differant pair. Also use the searchbar youll find helpful info there.shinbang is the worst

srry i had to haha, ICE it

not really an option... im trying to get under 5 for my mile by the end of track.
the idea way up there about the alphabet thing sounds worth a try.

that was more of a joke than it was a serious suggestion. writing the alphabet works...so does walking on the balls of your feet or doing calf raises. basically anything to strengthen the tibialis anterior, aka the muscle on the outside of your shin.

we were talking about this earlier today.

ice before and after you run. (before is the key)

and apparently the alaphabet thing works. who knew? also check your shoes and have someone look at your gait (stride length etc can impact your shins)

Time and a few stretching excercizes. I'd recommend taking a a couple weeks or so off from running in the mean time though. If you don't treat it right the first time, it'll keep coming back for as long as you keep running. Happened to my ex 3 times in 5 years...
