All you have to do to prevent it is to land correctly. Don't land backseat, don't land flat, land switch if you start to feel hurt, and ice them like crazy at night. Iceing will help it so much you won't believe it. Also, stretching your foot or writing the alphatbet with your toes in the air when you are watching TV helps to stretch it when they hurt, and to strengthen the muscles when you arent.
Shin bang in skiing is NOT caused by 'banging' your shins against your boots like most peopel think. It is from landing backseat and having to use your muscles to stay standing. The muscles slightly rips off the shin bone and it hurts like crazy. I used to get it so bad that I could barely walk, but since I've started landing on my feet instead of my tails, I havnt had a single ache in my shins for at least a season and a half. I didnt get new boots or do anything different except landed right. 1080 boots will do absolutely NOTHING to stop shin bang.
The end.
