Shaun white won?

Skiers are for sure more tech in the pipe than snowboarders, but snowboarders do a lot of those things named above and whos grabs are better is debatable~
 
i love KP and snowboarding, and am not totally on board with this whole commercialization and cool snowboarder-dude persona sponsors like Target and XP try to convey (though the money helps)...

that being said shaun actually seems pretty grounded and funny in most of his interviews. doesn't "appear" like a douche at all, even if he stands for much of what's wrong with skiing/snowboarding. give him a break, he didn't judge himself.
 
haha no harm man, i don't have any credit to begin with. my opinion is based solely of what he portrays in the media (i know, really reliable). there's a ton of people that only become saints when there's a mic in their face.

...but just for fun if you have 5 minutes, look up "i'm talking mountain dews, baby" on youtube. you'll see what i mean.
 
ya true, it is what most people have to go to go upon, and lots of athletes act completely differently in the media.

You know what made me feel better after good ol shaun white's win? I remembered that when my dad was at like Sea world or some zoo in Cali that White was there being escorted around the park with a bunch of groupies when my dad walks up to him and yells, "HEY LOOK, ITS THE FLYING TOMATO!!" (My dad is fully aware that he white hates that nickname)
 
i thought it was intersting that up until his winning run, the leader had a straight air method grab in his run.. if anyone ever did a straight air in the skiing superpipe they would get like a 50 from the judges

because nothing says technical like a switch grab.

but i agree, the first snowboard pipe run i see that has no wasted hits i think deserves like a 98, because i havent seen one like that yet.

agreed. you could totally tell that this event was decided before it began, there were a handfull of guys that did better than him. its sad that this is what the xgames are coming to
 
when white was talking to the reporter afterward and he was sayin shit like "i couldnt believe i didnt put it away in the first two rounds" i was literally angry at him. especially since like no one thinks he should have won that. I mean to put down your competition like that after winning off some bs is just low.
 
THIS IS THE BIGGEST BULLSHIT EVER FUCK SHAUN WHITE!!! he did not deserve to in the pipe at all. His run looked like shit and it was the same run he did like 4 years ago. I just saw his run by the way so thats why i am ranting right now.
 
yah if i was pearce id be pissed. shaun must realize that he could win by straight airing the entire course because hes plastered everywhere. pearce really did good and i actually said "wow" which i almost never do to any runs and shaun just did all the usual bullshit but without a 1260 and still won.....
 
i'm not saying that its not sick.. i'm just saying, think, for example, if someone in skiing did a switch japan (or any grab,)... they most likely would not score very high.
 
if you did a zero mid xgames pipe run 15 ft out, the whole ski/snow industry would freak. you'd probably still lose to simon hall, but it'd get you some love for sure.
 
i thought it was in good taste to mix in a sick straight air in snowboard pipe runs. im being serious.
isnt that like an unwritten rule? throw in a sick tech straight air for style flavor? i kinda always dug that idea, i thought that was something real. maybe i made it up.
