Shark fins ruined slope comps

No one likes them, nothing looks good off them, and it causes the most injuries.

Say no to shark fins

i think the difficulty of the feature is what makes it appealing. 6 of 10 x games competitors in the 90s shows that its not near as debilitating to their runs as you think. people were getting boosted on it. i think they need a steeper landing though. i would also like to see a QP instead of a shark fin. maybe one where the landing is much higher like this.

Not sure what makes it appealing, they're never built well. Andri, Eileen, Kelly, and many others have busted knees from shark fins. Flat landings, disrupts flow, etc. Bring back a cannon rail if you want something different

Slope was ruined well before these things existed

rewarding future spins over style or technical ability has really changed it for me. slopestyle mtb seemingly went the opposite direction.

The Olympics ruined it, there is a huge difference in slopestyle pre 2014 vs post 2014

Comps arent about style you fucks. Keep comps how they are. Last year Tom literally called stale grabs cubans and reverts onto rails nosebutters. Plus some of the scores were a little bit crazy this year anyways, do you really think if you add style into the equation its gonna make comps better? Not a chance. Comps are a separate thing, keep em how they are, unless you wanna add hockey equipment, im down for that

Just watched big air recap now. What the fuck is a style run ??. Dudes flatbasing into a 80 foot jump who gives a shit I wanna see triple corks. X games is so corny.

Kinda hard to judge based off of "style" in comps anyway, dont you think?

Agreed. The judging on the style jumps was all over the place too. Why tf did Tess’s rodeo 7 get a 10

The shark fin was giving the field some problems but when people had it dialed there was some crazy shit going down.

Not a big fan and they're overused. I liked it more when they were at least 2 sided or 2sided with a jump option. 3 jump line this year with a 1 sided "qp" was kind dumb.

Rail section was good.

If they want to be creative throw a hip in there instead of of 1 rail pad. Dub sided hip or a hip on each side.

Idk they've done weird things in the past. Hell they had that roof top to rail thing once, they've had friggin actual quarterpipes.

Just knowing jump 1 or jump 1 and 2 will be "qp" shark fin jumps every year isn't that creative.

i think they're dope. i think it's weird that NSers now are wishing for more regular jumps in slope when youre always complaining about things being too cookie cutter. shark fins make the riders do different shit and negotiate speed and angle more than the typical jump. if someone falls on it well sorry i guess they aint winning x games slope

but i do agree that a normal hip and/or a kimbo rail would be sick. also bring back the channel gap and other wacky big jump options

It's not about wanting regular features, at some point every slope course decided to have one and skiers continue to get injured on them. Every year at X some of the best skiers have gotten hurt on the feature.

1 sided "qp" idk. They've had years where they had them on the sides of takeoffs and rewarded them. People are hitting them better than they used to but they arent that sick and they've been in every xgames since like2015 or 16 it seems.

yeah i gotta say, as i re-watched the slope events the past few days i have to agree the one they currently have is definitely imperfect. i do like that it's something different than a regular jump but i now agree they should rethink the current version of the sharkfin

i think hip/qp/whatever/hybrids need steep landings to work and be cool in a slope situation. honestly i'd love just a big tall steep mean (2-sided) hip, maybe even one that some riders will have the balls to hit straight on and others wouldn't
