Setting up Camp at Hood.

Hey everyone, i got the idea the other day that i want to spend at least one month of my summer camping at hood. I just need to figure out some logistics. I'm lookin at renting an old camper from my dad that hes had since he was my age. not sure if it will be cheaper to rent a local one or go pick my dad's up in New Mexico ( i live in Portland).

i also want to get a ball park idea of how much $$ i'm gonna be spending on food, gas (propane),and any other necesities. i'll probably bring a keg with me as well.

some questions; where is the best place to set up? what is the weather like? how much spare cash should i have, and for what purposes? any other tips would be helpful. i'm really low key and don't need much. i feel like should have plenty saved up after tax returns and all.

i just moved to the northwest 3 months ago and im recovering from a blown knee so im trying to ski as much as possible when summer hits. also it looks like im gonna be mobbin' solo at this point so if anyone is interested in joining the party PM me and we can figure it out.

sorry if this post is out of season, i just wanna get everyhing figured out early with no stress.thanks guys, i searchbarred and couldnt find anything. ++++k for any tips or helpful opinions.

happy shreddin everyone!!!

working at timberline will save you the $$ on the pass. food costs me about $300 a month anywhere i go. try to limit the cobra dogs, they're like eight bucks a pop. weather is mostly clear with the occasional storm. you can only camp in oregon for two weeks by law. the airstrip is good but if you're there for awhile or it looks like you're living there permanently, the forest service cop guys will tell you to clear out and then you just drive around a bit till you find a place to park it again. you'll be about 25 minutes from timberline, at the most. definitely don't go to a campsite it costs like $20 a night. the only thing you'll really spend money on is gas driving up and down timberline road. or driving into sandy to get groceries. don't forget to bring a skateboard/longboard for govy shred.
