Set Up Advice

Hey just getting into touring and have purchased a full set up, just looking for some advice as to where I should mount the skis etc.

Firstly a little bit about myself. I'm 23, 5'9", living in Whistler for the winter. Like to ski hard and fast send cliffs do freeride comps etc but also ski a moderate amount of park particularly in the spring when things get slushy over here can't afford a massive amount of gear but here's what I've got anyway:

Faction Candide 2.0 with Marker Griffon bindings - every day all mountain ski/park ski

Atomic BentChetler 120 with Salomon Shift - Powder day ski/touring ski

Just wondering is its a bad idea touring on the BentChetlers with the width/weight/rocker but my thought was that as this is my first season getting into the backcountry I'll mainly be doing slackcountry and shorter tours so thought the shift would be a good idea as I could still use it as an inbounds ski?

Secondly where should I mount the shift right now I have my BentChetlers at -2 from true centre with a set of girffons and love them should I change this for a touring set up or should I stick with what I like?

Thanks for any help you have!

Seems like an excellent setup. With that pin tech binding you won’t have a weight issue touring even on fat skis.

What’s your boot situation?

I have a buddy who tours on the bentchetlers and loves them. should be a sick setup for touring especially on deep days.

Sweet thanks for that man was a little worried about touring on a bigger ski!

I've got a set of technica cochise 120s and recently got given a set of the new head nexo 130s wasn't expecting to have a boot quiver this season but its looking like I will now

The Chetlers, they’re definitely par for the course. However the ramp angle on the new Salomon bindingis a little high from what I’ve seen.

It all comes down to preference.

I personally would just keep the mount where you like it, don't change it just for touring. As for the bentchetlers it shouldn't really be a problem but you because you're new to touring and they have so much rocker you might get a little slippage on some steeper icy skin tracks (like the very popular one up east col towards don't swill). If you got the bentchetlers in 192 they WILL suck skiing down the singing pass trail but that trail sucks anyways. bottom line, you're fine dw

I ride JJ zeros with kingers on them. Guess I'm lucky I didn't get binders from the bad batch, cause I've sent it pretty hard inbounds as well as a 3 day touring/camping trip. JJ's might not be your first choice for something like bombing, but They feel really playful in pow for their weight. I sent some cliffs last season and only on the fast to hardpack did I notice the lack of elasticity in the binding. The shift will likely help you for this purpose.
