Fucking epic early season shred! Guessing there was a decent year round base underneath all that fluff?

Location?

^^ It was pretty good, It is 3/4 Couloir accesd via Moraine Lake, possibly the easiest access to a 900m coulior anywhere. Bottom of the couloir, is just scree so it was not great could only ski the big sluff piles, upper is all glacier ice and neve and was all rock coverd all summer but kept the snow cool and rippable for the way down!

Definitely a serious line, need a good cold freeze overnight and an early start, other then that, move fast and don't linger, it has taken out many a climber before with rockfall.

Looks real serious, especially for this early in the season haha. Did you guys boat across the lake?

^^nah, theres a full hiking trail around the lake till the back, then a climbers trail to the fan, equipped with cable handholds and nice aligned trees for the crossing! about an hour and a half or so till we had ski boots on from the parking lot. such an easy approach for summer skiing haha.

man so glad you posted here i was wondering about the glacier ice underneath that thing melts out pretty good by august doesnt it? thought itd be so touchy for slides. havent been up there in 4 years now.

^^, once you get about 100m past the fan you are front pointing on the neve and glacie r ice, below that its just lots of loose dirt and scree basically were the big piles of golf ball slush start in the video. Avalanche conditions where fairly low for the day, few windslabs at the top and one nice long 200m 20cm deep wet slide about half way down, the icey bedsurface was edgeable fun though!

Was wondering when this was going to start blowing up my facebook feed. You guys are definitely winning the early season shread

Wow that's a burly line for early September haha is that a first? There were mad avalanches and rock fall coming down everywhere when I was there this weekend with all the rain.

Well def not a first descent if you mean that, i've skied it twice and it gets skied 10times a year alteast, in september who knows haha, Doug Ward used to say he climbed and skied it 10 times one summer, no idea if that was in Sept though! I know a few people tried to ski it after us but both turned around about half way.

Nice warm up since I'm flying to chile in 10 days to go volcaneering before winter pops off back here!
