so i was shreddin last night and i separated my shoulder/clavicle. im full of vicodin and i got a sling and it doesnt really hurt at the moment. just happens to be a perfect blue bird day and everytime i look out the window i hate my life... would it be irrational to go ski?

who else has had this injury? and how long was it before u were back on the hill?

what degree of separation? you may need surgery if its bad.

If you have fairly well developed shoulder/upper back muscles you could be back out skiing in no time (as long as you can deal with the pain/swelling)

its only like a 2nd degree separation. i have been icing the shit out of it. there is a nice bump on the top that like moves when i move my arm... which hurts like shit... but when its in the sling its tollerable. doc said he didnt think id need surgery.

my hip is fucking swollen and bruised right now. i fell on it last week. then it kinda healed so i went skiing again and fell on it and now im in so much fucking pain when i walk. id let it heal up first

well you should be back shredding once you have your range of motion back (usually when the swelling goes down). Assuming you can deal with a little pain there's no reason why you can't go out and shred ASAP.

be careful. i thought that i just separated my shoulder playing football junior year. turns out i tore it. now, due to trying to get back into the weightroom and back on the field too early, i'll be lucky if i get to play this season (soph in college). if you do get surgery, be smarter than me, and actually wait. and yes, i know that you wont, because everyone wants to get back on the field/hill as soon as they can. go slow, and then thank yourself 3 years from now when youre fully functional.

my sister separated her clavicle and all she did was wear a sling for a week an a half and ice it. it was fully healed by the end of two weeks...keep icing, you should be good to go in no time
