LA teacher held for gagging and blindfolding children

The photographs were of boys and girls between 7 and 10 years old

A Los Angeles teacher has been accused of binding and gagging nearly two dozen children and putting live cockroaches on some of their faces.

Mark Berndt, 61, allegedly committed lewd acts with 23 children under the age of 10 between 2008-10.

Police said a photo developer raised the alarm after being handed about 40 pictures of blindfolded children.

In some of the photos, the accused had his arm around the children or was covering their mouth with his hand.

Police suspect some of the images could have been taken inside a classroom.

'Semen on cookies'Some had their mouths taped shut and a spoon of white fluid was near the girls' mouths.

Tests on a spoon and container found in the accused's classroom tested positive for semen, the sheriff's department said.

"It makes you sick to your stomach,'' Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy told KTTV Fox 11 News.

Sheriff's lieutenant Carlos Marquez said some of the children had also been given semen on a cookie.

Mr Berndt, who had worked at the south Los Angeles school for more than 30 years, was arrested on Monday and is being held on $2.3m (£1.5m) bail.

Police discovered more than 100 other photographs of children when they searched the accused's home.

They also discovered a DVD depicting adult sexual bonding activity - although these images are legal.

Police did note, however that the scenarios in the DVD "mirrored the bondage-type photos of the children''.

Police are still trying to identify about 10 children.

No student came forward to report the abuse.
 
its things like this that make me think twice about the justice system in america. this guy will probably get a life sentence or two, when he needs to be bound, gagged, and have semen shoved down his throat. there's a special place in hell for this guy.
 
This. But maybe stabbed with knives, water-boarded, and various other torture techniques before the most inhuman way to put someone down...
 
well if youre someone who condones torture you're probably a little sick in the head yourself.

when a crazy dog ravages a kid and bites half his face off, you dont beat the shit out of the dog for your own sick pleasure and then kill it. you just kill it. torture is something that the torturer enjoys. there's no justice in it.
 
completely missing the point. inflicting pain in a torturous manner is really only done because you, yourself enjoy torturing shit. if i saw the guy i'd just shoot him in the fucking head and it'd be over. i wouldn't stand there and satisfy my inner sick and violent urges by torturing him and then killing him. people that have those sorts of feelings are pretty fucked up themselves.

 
as fucked as this is, its not as bad as murder, and i dont think it should warrant a penalty worse than murder. in the end, those kids have a terrible memory that they have to live with. but anyone would rather endure that than be killed. id drink gallons of that dudes man juice if i had the choice between that and death. it takes an extremely fucked person to kill someone for the sake of ending someones life. this also takes an extremely fucked person, but its not the same.
 
I hope he goes to jail and has to eat semen off a butthole! it would bring me piece of mind and perpetual bliss!
 
wait did this shit go down at school? made it seem like he had a whole class of kids bound... anywho this guy will definitely get his ass handed to him in prison, give the dude a few life sentences. prison for this guy will be worse than death most likely
 
Get real. fuck that guy, he and everyone else like him should be put down. The world is unfiar, good people die everyday for no good reason. There is a good reason for this fucking cancer to die.
 
No you wouldnt, if you were put in a situation, facing death, with a knife to your throat, and someone telling you do this or you're dead, you would do it. so would 99% of people. people will do pretty much anything to stay alive. think about it. do something extremely disgusting and fucked up but be physically fine with the ability to recover fully and live a happy life. or have no chance at any happiness and end everything. id do it, and id chop off every limb on my body, go deaf and blind. and id still easily choose life. so would most people.

put yourself in a situation where you are forced to either do what this guy did or kill them, and i can almost guarantee you wouldnt kill them. because death really is as bad as it gets.

i think murder is the only crime that can warrant death as a punishment.

 
Somone in the future fucks your little boy in the ass and you would want him in jail for life? 2 free meals a day , TV and free healthcare for the rest of his life? Fuck that, you would want him hung up and you would do it yourself with a golfclub.
 
If this guy gets hit by a car or gets murdered in prison, believe me i will feel no emotion at all about it. this is someone the world could do without for sure. but as a society we should be past using death as punishment for a crime not involving death. giving this guy a lifetime in prison to think about what he did and mentally fuck himself is the perfect punishment IMO. and if he can somehow become a better person during that time then fantastic.
 
Somone who is capable of thought to feel guilty for something liek that wouldnt do it in the first place would he. If the death penalty was more common, less violent crime would be commited IMO. weed them out.
 
if he killed my kid then yes. id kill him or want him killed for sure. but in that case nope, id want him in jail. that guy is going to have a HORRIBLE rest of his life in prison. I feel that trying to make up for something in the past by trying to get satisfaction out of hurting the guy who did it is a weakness and in some ways stoops down to their level.

Now if he somehow got away with it, yes, id hunt him down and do what it takes to see that hes punished. id try to get him sent to jail, and if thats not possible, then yes id feel fine killing him.

I believe in having an outcome for your actions, and if that doesnt happen, then id do what it takes to make sure it happens, if the outcome has to be worse then so be it. but i dont believe in revenge for the satisfaction and/or thinking of it as a way of making up for what happened.
 
if the punishment happens to be worse than the act, then fine, its better than no punishment. but if we have the ability to give someone like this a punishment that better suits the crime he committed then id rather him get that. I think its much worse for our society to attempt pleasure or satisfaction out of hurting someone back, thats stooping to their level, its the wrong direction for society. and honestly i feel much better being above that.

 
IMO it isnt revenge, it is the cessation of a existence of a useless being. I also believe in paying for your actions, you touch children, you die. Simple Is it the action of somone killing that makes you feel that way? Like somone has to pull the trigger on the guy? This is why prisons should be like "escape from LA" let them have a space to just kill eachother. Dont want to go to prison and get skinned and worn like a coat? dont touch children.

If someone abuses you and oppresses you and, you know, probably threatens you and your family or manipulates you into thinking it's nothing bad and your little "secret" as usually is the case, the trauma is already there, and Jesus Christ man, you can't put even one percent of blame on the children.
 
there are PLENTY of useless beings that serve no purpose on this planet. but to say that we need to get rid of them by killing them takes a similar mentality to how those criminals think. i think a society needs to be above using any kind of emotional reasoning for their punishments. thats why you get your arm chopped off for stealing in iraq, and killed for doing it a second time. its using the same mentality of criminals and emotional thinking to base their punishments on. now if an individual decides to get their revenge on you with that thinking then tough, shouldnt have committed the crime. personally thats not how i would do it.

now obviously this guys crime is much much worse than your average rape or child molestation, and this guys punishment should reflect that. as in a very long time in prison, with very little privileges, something like that. and if someone in that prison happens to beat the shit out of him multiple times or kill him then that sucks, thats a risk you take when you commit a crime like this.

to keep it simple, where i stand is that a society cant base their punishment of criminals off of emotion and the same pleasure/desire/satisfaction of seeing people suffer that criminals have. and to give this guy the death penalty is exactly that. BUT, being humans, we will always do this as individuals and its a risk that im fine with criminals having to deal with in it ending up in physical harm or death.

but yeah, lets leave it be with our opinions being what they are.
 
My view isnt a retrabution type of view, just a taking out the trash type of view.Clean cut and raw, you do somethign bad you dissipear and are history. in no way am i saying that it should make somone feel better of fill whatever void etc. just taking out the garbage and leaving the good.
 
did you hear about the new fear factor? people drank donkey jizz, and thats for a tv show. most people would rather do something disgusting than die. dying would suck really really bad.
 
ehh ok, sounds like a pretty harsh view, but whatev. I do believe people fuck up and make bad mistakes,(not talking about this guy, but people who commit one time bad crimes in general) and it does not reflect who they really are. you could bet the nicest best person ever, be put in a shitty situation, and end up flipping out and say beating your wife or something. a good example kinda related to this is this girl when i was in highschool was 16, had sex with a like 23 year old at a party and the guy didnt ask her age. and i guess someone found out and the guy was really close to getting completely fucked for life. now putting that guy anywhere near the same catagory as the OP topic is wrong but extremely easy to do, and easy to punish that guy in the same way as the OP topic guy.

but either way i think its just plain wrong to think killing is a legitimate way of cleaning up society. thats putting us at a similar level of the shittiest middle east/african countries. like very inhumane. i get where your coming from, and i think i understand what your saying. just not sure if you understand what a society that does this is actually like.
 
You manupulate words.. The only thing i said in this whole convo that relates towards the punishment for a crime is the crime of touching a child. I didnt use any other examples.I dont think a society that destroyed child molesters when proven guilty would be any different than what we have now other than less chid molesters commiting, and in jail.
 
I dont feel like child molesters deserve death. would you give the guy i mentioned earlier the 23 year old who had sex with a 16 year old the death penalty? because as simple minded as people are, most people would group him and the OP topic together. murders are killed because they kill. its the worst kind of crime, and IMO, much worse than molestation by itself. what makes you think they deserve death? just wondering.
 
I dont think that most people would put that in the same catogory. If somone is capable of doign that, being that careless , laking soul, laking consiouse then they do not deserve to share the same place as me. I am better than them , they should be put in a placw tih wother people like themselves..Murderes, rapists etc and they can all destroy eachother.

This country is soft. People fuck kids, get out of jail and live in the same terrestrial zone as you, as your children, family members etc. Fuck that shit. one strike your out. They are souless , why waste money on feeding them ,providing healthcare and cable for them. Make an example out of every single one of them.
 
Murderes are technically fine in jail, Jail's seperate molesters from the murders to keep them from being killed. How do you interpret that? I think they are equal in souless brutality, but even murders know how fucked it is to mess with children.
 
id say this is more because jails are filled with murderers, not so much molesters. its easy to gang up on a loner, especially when you can make yourself feel better by saying you are "above them" that and its easier to understand a killer, everyone gets so pissed off they feel like they could kill someone. a jail full of them being one of the more understanding environments for a murderer or violent crime convict. not many people feel the urge to molest a kid, there is usually no sexual attraction, it just plain doesnt make sense. its very similar to the way some people hate gays. there is just no way molestation is worse than murder, i just dont see how a sex act could in any way be worse than ending someones life, leaving them no chance to a happy life, and making the last moments of their life full of the worst possible emotions and experience(dying)

as far as sending them to jail with the rest of their type, sure that makes complete sense to me.
