Self mounting bindings

I want to put some old bindings on my old skis for urban or whatever and I dont want to take them to a shop. If the holes are already drilled in my skis, is there anything I need to know before I screw the bindings in? The ski used to have salomon bindings and im using salomon again. thanks

usually the screws are the same within companys. Just use some good water proof bondo/epoxy/glue to hold them in.

DEFINATLY dont use bondo or any other "body filler" on your skis, that the most raterded thing I have EVER heard.Stick to the metal to wood epoxy

yeah man, see what happens but i would recommend gorilla glue cause if its just for urban, it should be cool, with gorilla glue, ur screws will snap in half before the screws rip out...

its not that hard to do a decent job mounting bindings without a jig... just be careful with your measurements. Fill in the old holes with JB weld if you can(it works very well) Get the bindings set up how you want them, and ligned up as straight as you can get them by eyeballing it, use a sharpie or some marker to put a dot where you need the holes. Then Take teh right size drill bit(smaller than the screws), wrap masking tape around the drill bit, leaving the desired depth of the hole showing in the drill bit. This gives you a consistent depth. Then you just put a bit of epoxy in the holes and on the screws, screw the bindings to the skis, and let them dry. IF you take your time with this, you should be able to do a pretty decent job... measure twice, cut once

you are supposed to helicoil your shit if you are remounting in the same holes. screws pull out alot easier if you use the same holes w/ just glue. you may be fine with just glue, but the chances of pulling the binding out are really high. take it to a shop and get them mounted. don't be a cheap ass.

i agree with that except that rule of thumb is that you NEVER use a power drill when mounting bindings other than to make the holes.

For the good screws to use, u can check on the skis. All ski companies print the size of the screws compatible with the ski. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT SIZE. you shouldnt just check by putting the screw and the ski next to each other, its only a question of millimeter, so only a small difference can create a under the base of your ski..

Use ski glue. most good shop will sell it to you for cheap, but its super important to keep umidity out of the core...

drill them, like its been said before, at low power then tighten the whole thing
