Second camera primary for urban

I'm in the market for a new camera, for generally urban as a long lens camera and for b roll. I am open to get a dslr body and a quality/decent lens. Or a prosumer camcorder like hmc40, I am deterred by a hvx because of P2 cards because there so expensive and a pain to edit I heard.

My budget right now is about 1,000$.

I have been filming with dslrs for about 2 years, and I take a Video production class and plan to attended college for video production/communications

I already have a t2i, 8mm fisheye, 50 mm prime, 120$tripod,

I plan on using this second camera as a long lens camera for urban primarly, so most likely on a tripod. I will use my T2i for fisheye so I can double angles.

I have a MacBook Pro with 4gb ram, edits my t2i footage with no trouble

I have Fcpx and know it quite well I'd say

Thanks

You want a long lens correct? That'll be tough with your budget. If you spend $350 on a new body, for example, you can either get a 55-250 or a 70-200 f4 Non-IS with $1000. My advice would be save up a little bit more cash, and get a t2i and a 70-200 f4L IS. It's about $1400 for the lens I believe. With such a long focal length for video, IS is pretty crucial for anything that isn't stabilized VERY well. (Tripod, glide cam). Or you can get a 55-250 and get lower quality glass. Not what I would do, but it's an option.

Damm, thats a lot of dough to spend on a lens. But, I understand where your coming from. Any other suggestions? I like canon a lot, but for dslr's are they the only way to go?

It would be the cheapest...

Might be easier just to find another homie with a camera vs buying another.

Theres not really anyone around my parts that films and if they do its SD and old.

But I will probably get a t2i or t3i body. Cyber monday is coming up so big sales.

So Ill need a pretty expensive lens for it to be worth it?

Buy another t2i/t3i and get some sort of fast long lens. A [insert brand name] 70-200 2.8 would be ideal as it would allow lower iso. IS is really helpful, but if it is going to be mounted on a tripod all the time, it is not neccesary as the IS should be enabled when mounted on a tripod.

Found a refurbished t2i body for 359$ and a 70-200 canon F4 for 500$

Would it make sense to wait till cyber monday? Or just get them now?

Like what stuff goes on sale and does that usually include refurbished/used stuff
