Season in Whistler 09/10

Hello,
We are two boys from Denmark seeking some info about our future season as ski bums in Whistler, 09/10.
In Denmark we have our own lodging agency dealing with seasons in Whistler (www.alpservice.com), but we would rather live with some canadians, americans or other nationalities sharing the same mindset as us, instead of isolating our selfs with a bunch of danes.
So the question is: Do anyone know some agencies in Whistler or related to Whistler where we could seek/find accomodation, so that we can get the season planned. We have heard that jobs in Whstler isn't the hardest thing to get, we basically want a place to stay at first.
Thank you very much.

you could not have picked a worse year to come to whistler. you have heard that vancouver is hosting the 2010 winter olympics right? if you want to skibum somewhere worthwhile next year, try BC's interior. kickinghorse is like lift-accessed heli skiing. or go south of the border and go to baker for a season. it would be a lot better than going to whistler.

We where aware of the problem, but we didn't think that it would be that important..Is it because of the prices or the amount of visitors? We thought that the financial crisis might solve these problems.. There must be some ski bums in Whistler 09/10..

Yes, but actually finding a place to stay will be harder than ever. I agree with Zav, you'd be better off at one of the more laid back spots in the interior for a season, then try finding a place for the subsequent year. It beats heading out here and frantically searching for some overpriced hovel while competing with every other Australian who couldn't take the sight of another Wombat and just had to cross the Pacific as soon as humanly possible. You probably WOULD be able to pull it off, I just wouldn't recommend it.

agreed, though the olympics will only be a couple of weeks. Im sure you could get some time in whistler. Im not sure. but it will be next to impossible to find a reasonably priced place to stay. look into the hostels, but lots are probably already booked, or will have different pricing or something. mountain and the whole area will be so busy. maybe bring a tent and camp in the BC?

Thank you for the answers! Does anyone have some more specific stuff, homepages etc.? At least we want to give it a try, otherwise we really consider the tenting!! Whistler is as far as we have been told the most versatile area to ski for a season, we really don't want to miss the chance..

Here is a link to criagslist section in whistler, in a couple of months you might find some stuff but i am warning you prices are going to be outrageous over the olympics. You could also look at being staff and getting into staff housing somehow, check the WB website for that. here is craig's list http://whistler.en.craigslist.ca/ .
There are many more versatile resorts around this area, they just don't get as much media attention because they are not rich as fuck. You should look at Mt. Baker in the USA ( about same distance from Vancouver as whistler, or Revelstoke has a sweet new mtn , i think it is in its second year. Apparently has epic pow and its pretty huge. Kicking hoarse is pretty decent too and golden is a sick little ski town to live in. I would seriously consider some of those options. Maybe i am just sour cuz i grew up in Whistler though.
As for tenting i think they will really be cracking down on that for the olympics, and it can get as cold as minus 27˚ C in the village for a few weeks at a time. Then it may be raining the next week, weather is pretty much hit and miss here. Most squatters will be kicked out and told to move a long.
