Season ended by a dislocated shoulder

so last thursday i was skiing and fucked up a lincoln and landed full body weight on my shoulder poped straight out. this is the 5th time i have dislocated my shoulders but first time for my left all ready had a reconstruction and stabilization on the right. i went and saw the doc today and he said that i should get an mri and a meeting with my surgeon. he thinks that with my poor track record with recurring dislocations i should have the left stabilized as well. so if i have this its all ready no more 2012 season and no summer anything because of roughly a six month recovery from these surgeries.

trdl: season ended might need shoulder stabilization surgery

im going to need a hobbie any sugestions? im thinking of getting a kendama

damn man thats rough. i just had shoulder surgery (bankart fracture) a few months ago and it sucked balls. good luck with that sorry to hear u did that +vibes

Mine was dislocated pretty bad as well last year, been doing a lot of exercises my physiotherapist gave me. You have to be very dedicated but in the end it's all worth it imo. Rotator cuff exercises ftw.

Shoulder injuries are the worst. Last season I separated my shoulder and it ruined about 1/2 my season. Make sure you give it full time to recover or you will just keep reinjuring it, or at least that's how it was with a separated one. +vibes

that blows dude. last monday i was playing rugby and i tackled a guy at a weird angle, dislocated my shoulder and separated my acromioclavicular joint. my recovery time is 6 weeks though, not 6 months. hang in there dude, vibes

Same exact injury I had. I only gave it like 3 weeks rest though, fell on it skiing and hurt it again. And did that like 2 more times. Be smart with it.

It's possible to ski without falling down. Why not take the time to work on your fundamentals. It's still skiing.

I feel you man, last Wednesday I was downhill biking at my local hill and overshot a jump to flat. Landed with all my weight on my left shoulder which I dislocated about 2 years ago. I ended up tearing my rotator cuff and partially tore my labrum.

Just got mine done yesterday. Repaired labrum after dislocations and a hill sachs compression. I'm hoping to be dilligent and be doing light skiing in january.

Let us know what the mri reveals too, vibes!

You take it too serious bro. You don't need surgery. I've dislocated or subluxed (where it comes out but goes right back in) 20+ times in the past year.My AC joint is separated and my labrum is torn. They tell me to have surgery but the shits unnecessary. I'm still playing football, still lifting, still skiing, everything. Just learn how to put it back in yourself

I'm sort of in this boat too. So many dislocations. I can move my clavical around really easily. When I do giant arm circles or try to do a front or back stroke swimming it makes great clicking noises.

I've seen a doctor, I know I need surgery, but it's basically at the point of no return. It doesn't cause me pain except when I dislocate, but I can put it back so I deal. I'm expecting some grand shoulder surgery later in life, but at least it will be more of a one time deal.

Same situation with my right hip.

i feel ya, been one week since my second surgery on my left shoulder. dislocated it 50+ times in my life, sucks!

Damn dude that's terrible and just when everyones so stoked to go out and start skiing. One of my buddies last year broke his neck at the beginning of the summer and was out until december and first day back skiing he ruptured his spleen and was out for the whole season. Fates a bitch!

No. Not this. You can and will cause permanent nerve damage doing this for a prolonged period of time. Main reason why I got mine done after 10+ subluxes and dislocations. Get arthoscopic surgery..got mine done in April and I was playing soccer at 100% at a college level in July

Live life one day at a time bruh. You can't live now for how you think things will be in the future. So im not gonna worry about it now.

and the poster a couple above about nerve damage, thats fine! then it wont hurt when it dislocates. most people end up havinf 2, 3 surgeries on it anyways, so you shouldnt have surgery until you need it

How old are you and where are you getting your information from? It's somewhat disturbing if you think that is medically sound advice.

def go ahead with surgery and hit PT proper but you'll be back in the saddle sooner than you think mang! Arthroscopic stabilization surgeries only a 3 month recovery. Vibes

im now on the short notice list to see my surgeon, hopefully i can see him soon and get it all fixed up quickly. there is no way i want to let it get worse as the guy said he has dislocated his shoulder nearly 20 times in the last year i really dont want to get to that point and his shoulder is probably unfixable now
