Would it be possible to tell how many pages a thread has the same way it does in the main forums?

For instance maybe if you're searching something older like "Chads Gap". Maybe there are 30 threads from one time period. One of the threads has 17 pages, but the other have none or only a few replies. You have to click on everything to find a thread with posts.

I also noticed now that the threads are no longer in order of post date. Are they organized by last post or is it random at the moment? Would it be possible to have some means of choosing how you want the results sorted?

Just a couple things that popped into my head.

Ignore the current search bar. It is being replaced.

Did you get on the beta invite for the app?

the search in there uses the first stage of the new system.

Are you talking about the search within the app?

That one is the start of the replacement. Everything else is still absolute dogshit.

I was talking about the one on the website, I dont use the app. However, I did just download the app for the sole purpose of testing the searchbar and it doesnt seem any different than the website, still very hard to use. It would be cool if we were able to sort the results somehow

Well the results are better, and you can easily filter them... sorting is a next step.

Yeah it is definitely better, Im just glad to see its finally being worked on

google man. use site:newschoolers.com and then any other terms or tricks you think will help. google some of the tricks and commands too, some of them are really useful

i'm unaware of any reason NS should spend time and money reinventing the wheel, but maybe someone can correct me there

Well, its *slightly* better right now, still far off from good or even acceptable.

The plan right now is to ignore this post. ;)

seruously though, we’re doing some work to revamp the alerts system first and perhaps search bar would come up soon after that.

So most likely next summer. ;)

may i ask why you guys are even bothering to work on one? just instruct people to use google with site:newschoolers.com and you're in business

We used to just not care and tell people to use google... but once they're in the app they are stuck when they want to find something.

similar so ill repost

I haven't been on newschoolers properly for a fair while, and coming back i like the look and feel of the site.

i only have two ideas which would improve the user experience.

1) make the black header (where all the navigation links are) collapsable. similar to the bar at the bottom of macs. but instead of disappearing completely it just goes back to a thin bar the size of "news forums etc". then when you hover your mouse over it the rest of it drops down. currently i feel like it is taking up too much space on the screen.

2) when click on a photo it enlarges a higher quality version, similar to Facebook.
