Sean Petit back on skis via vintage graphics

Everyone's favorite skier turned snowboarder is back on two planks, and we can thank (I'm speculating here) his love for vintage gear, clothing, and graphics. Looks like K2 teamed up with Petit to put an old top sheet on the MindBender 108, and I'm not upset, because we get clips of Sean on skis again. Gotta love OG Oakely alien glasses and step turns. Thoughts?

Holy shit the photos on the K2 site literally melted my brain. Its like the time and space bent back on each other:

I might have to drop the $1300 to grab these while we are at it:

Posted this in the hype thread but figured I would add it here too...

The original graphic designer of the Merlin ski, Chester Grays, who is my boss and the VP of Design for K2 Sports did these. While he doesn't have the time to design too many skis with us on the regular, we tapped him in to design the “new” Mindbender 108TI with Pettit. We had to re-do the files because when this original graphic was made all of the processes and computers that we have now did not exist. No copying old designs here, this is straight from the original artist himself.

They look so damn good in person too! Even better then the online photos. Such a badass ski and graphic!

K2 rep: "...so when you think about it, sean, skiing is actually more alternative and hip than snowboarding. don't you wanna get back on skis? come on, give em a taste. we made em extra retro for you"

This made my day

he only skis like twice a year and then disappears back into the forest. meanwhile seth is out backcountry skiing and touring on some blanks. With the boom in backcountry youd think K2 would have a second look at their marketing plan.

Pettit has also skied for K2 since he was like 12 years old and held a pro model ski for.... 4 or 5? Seth left because he didn't wanna deal with sponsorships and corporate shit, not because K2 dropped him. Know your shit

i don't care enough to check but as i recall, they did drop seth. after they got bought by someone. that's what i remember happening anyway, happy to be proven wrong

Yeah that sounds pretty on-brand for that fuckin playa

I don't mean it as a slight to Seth, he's a skiing god and def punk and anti-The Man, but he seems like the type of dude who wants to just keep skiing and most jobs don't let you just do that lol so I would remember it if he voluntarily got off the sponsorship train

I wasnt hinting that K2 hire seth back as seth doesnt want that but K2 should look to getting some BC riders since that is the direction the industry is headed instead of someone who spends more time on a board than skis to represent the ski side of things, especially with the backcountry boom that's happening this season and will continue into next season

I saw someone with the new boots with the same colorway that were released with the skis and my friend commented on them, now I'm wondering who I saw cuz this was a couple weeks or so ago.

Considering the drop was yesterday it was probably a K2 Rider. I saw EZ post a video on them so I'm assuming they made pairs for a lot of their riders to go shoot on and promote

I saw him a few times on the day he filmed this (was on blackcomb). The dude skis with such a wickedly unique style. He passed me going so smooth and fast, low to the ground with his clothes flapping, skiing long turns down the fall line. I'll never forget him splitting off and weaving between trees before dissapearing completely.

At the end of the day he slipped past me like a fucking ghost on the ski out before floating over some bumps and disappearing at full speed into a tight run through the trees to one of the parking lots. It was timeless, hair raising, and inspiring, and all he did was ski a green past me.

I thought he was riding retro skis but I guess they were the new 108s. To the people wondering what he's up to, my friend rode the chair with him and he actually helped with the RnD and design of some of the features on the boot (and of course the graphic). He also sells tons of k2 boards.
