SDHC card question about classes, +Karma

I just bought a Go Pro Hero HD, and i was reading online about how you need a faster read and write speed SDHC card than with taking picture when your filming in HD. well i tested it with my class 4 card i bought at Fredys (fastest class 4 they had) and it seemed like it worked for the most part, but in 1080p the footage was really choppy. and im surprised but it worked fine in the 720p mode at both 30 and 60 FPS, and the 720p60FPS it says online shoots at 15M/sec just like 1080P at 30FPS.

anyways i was wondering if a class 6 will solve this issue? i was looking at the SanDisk Extreme 3 8GB in class 6. or do i need to drop 30 more bucks on a class 10 if i plan on doing some filiming in 1080p? Thanks and +Karma for any help!

Absolutely don't need a class 10. A class 2 is 2MB/s aka 1.84mb/s. A class 2 should work fine. I've tested class 4 and 6 and both work fine. Also, you can get class 6 32gb on ebay between 20-30usd shipped.

Also, you mention it being choppy with playback? Were you playing back from your computer? If so then it's your computer that is the bottleneck...

that could be the problem. never thought of that, ill try it on the tv to. thanks and +karma for the help

The GoPro (or any other consumer cam for that matter) isn't measured in MB (Megabytes) per second. It is measured in mb (Megabits) per second. About a 10fold difference (15mb = 1.84MB).

And sorry that was my bad above. I meant to say a class 2 is 2MB per second and the go pro is 15mb or 1.84MB per second. I can see how you got confused.
