SD vs HD

I am genuinely curious because so many people have different views on the way things should be shot nowadays compared to 5 years ago to even 20 years ago. Many people would rather see HD or 4k which is understandable but i personally feel like there are many people that don’t appreciate/respect a lot of SD footage that comes out anymore(thats just my take). Personal preference is obviously a big factor as well but there are also many people who want nothing except the highest quality (4k RED footy etc)

Standard definition vs high definition lets hear some different viewpoints

High resolution and high fps used to be expensive to shoot. Now people get 4k resolution on a 200.- phone. My guess is that most people expect an actual camera to shoot just as high of a resolution as their phone which makes them disregard SD edits. When looking at other peoples images or videos its easy to get lost in the resolution of a shot but just as easy to get bored by the bad filming/editing. The main factors that make me enjoy a video/edit is everything other than the resolution. Sound quality and design, composition and story.

You get clicks from resolution. You get watchtime from quality.

(Then theres me who doesn't get either because i dont advertise)

Shoot whatever you like, its really the content that matters the most. I've always like a nice crispy edit, but thats been my style for 10+ years.

sd is coming back hottt these days and i think it will continue to grow again. there is lots more sd and even 720p than there was 5 years ago, but part of that is also its resurging popularity. personally i like the sd look more right now but it also has to be filmed well, and honestly 95% of sd filmers are just waving the camera around cluelessly.
