i blew out my knee last winter and cant ski hard againfor a few months, so i need a park ski that is good for all mountain. im going to be using it on flats for a few months then in the park, i got some mogul skis to compete on. im debatign between the scratch (the black one) or the 1080s.

thanks for any suggestions

1080s are a piece of shit. they delam usually and lose their stiffness within 30 days on snow due to the cheap foam core. stick with rossi and get the wood core. also i've never seen a pair of delamed scratches. the top sheet gets a little beat up but that really doesn't matter

Mystic, if you've never seen scratches delam, you havent seen a lot of scratches. But I have them and though I keep mine in the park cause they're shorter than my big mountain skis, whenever I take them out they perform great in the groomed and kill bumps. I highly recomment rossi.

scratches for sure the 1080s are not good in the park compared to the scratches and the rossis are just fine outside of the park

i'm on my second pair of scratches and have had no delams. come to think of it i ski with four other people who rode them last and this year and they haven't had them delam either.

i hate the 1080's. I demo'ed them on demo day at sunday river and after one run i brought them back. the guy also said, no rails or you have to pay for them (so what that interpreted to me was they suck on rails and get wicked big scratches on teh bottem) and they also sucked in all mountain. wicked fucked up ski.

but I used the rossi scratches all day long. it was heaven. but i used the proteens cause im younger.

I have Armada AR5's and they are glorious

my friend got scratches last year and skied them for about 20 days and already the tipa are starting to delam. its not too bad but i don't know hw long they wil last.

^ yah, their first gen of the scratch delammed like no one's business, the new ones have been a lot better

So last years scratches arent all that great? I'm trying to get last years black scratch bc's but if they are going to delam then I dont want them. What do you guys think?

I need last years black scratch bc's!!!!

^They have a different topsheet from the fs. The might still delam, but all sidewall construstion skis have SOME risk of delam. But was he talking about 03 scratches? Not too sure

yah, sorry, should have specified, it was last year's first-gen scratch fs that had all the problems with delam

when i say the black scratch i mean the '04 scratch, not the '04 scratch bc. this year they came out with 3 scratch: BC FS and normal. the only diff between the normal ones (the black ones i want) and the fs is the core. thanks for the help.

The core does make a difference. I lifted and flexed both of them in the store and I could feel it. The scratch nothings are a fair bit heavier, but then again, pretty much all skis are light enough nowadays.

I have 1080s and I love them....well it might be because I had peice of shit maverics last year that couldnt do shit. But in any case I reccamend the 1080s, I know nothing about scratches so I cant tell you wat one to get

scratches are much better

As long as you get them mounted normally they are excellent all mountain, but don't ecpect to be able to carve at high speeds or ride the moguls well if you get them mounted forward at all...

On my way to goddom

last year's second-gen scratch, yeah... the first-gen one had delam problems so much that rossi re-released it midseason with a new topsheet construction

this year's is the same as that

i have both 1080's and the black scratch that you're talking about and i like the scratch better in almost everything, park, all-mountain, bumps, ice, whatever

If you ever catch on fire, don't look in the mirror, cause I bet that would really throw you into a panic!

Triple hybrid Core, slant sidewalls, carbon, kevlar and a torsion box VS. a polyurethane core. YOu decide.
