Some guy at my shop offered to sell me some rossignol scratchs for 380$ canadian. (new no bindings) I read some posts down on the list about people with scratch durability problems so are they worth it?
I would do it. Do you have another pair of skis? If not i would lean towards the BC's, they are better all around. I know people who have the FS as their only ski, and they have no problem with it. The FS is good in the park, really good. Nice and light.
Seeing as how $380 Canadian equates to about eight cents American, I'd say how can you go wrong?!?
For real though, there have been significant documented durability problems with both models of the Skratch. If you don't have another pair of skis, I'd put your money elsewhere.
On the other hand, it is a superb ski while it lasts.
I demoed the scratch FS today and I hardly did anything on them, just some rails and tried some 180's and i messed the bases up pretty bad and the top sheet was cracking and peeling at the edges. maybe they were just shit from demos but i wasn't impressed
the magazine is called 'POWDER' cool! - my stupid non-skiing friend
i bought scratches for $250 (american) if you look in any review magazine all the rossignol pro riders have said the ski is soo nice, and it rarely breaks.
buy them, and then if they break send them back. i got my scratchs last year in febuary from rossi, and then pressure cracked the shit out of them buy the end of the 02 season. then over the summer i sent them back and got the emproved rubber topsheeted ones. i rode them untill about 2 weeks ago when i cracked the tip. i sent those back and now i got a set of 04 scratchs. what i am trying to say is that they have a good warrenty so dont wory about it, the price is right too.
