scratch 174 vs 180

I am 5'8 145lbs..which ski would you get...I am comfortable skier, coming from 177 1080's, my scratchs are being warrentied and they gave me a size choice. The 174 seem to ski too short all mountain but are fun in the park..would you think the 180's are too long?

Thats a really tough choice, most people wouldn't hesitate and would go for the 174... but that IS TOO SHORT. Jon Olsson is 5'9 and skis on the Mad Trix 180s. If you are still growing then i'd go for the 180s for sure. It also depends were you live and ski... on the east coast you may wanna lean more towards the 174s. I guess all that really didn't help much, but anyway, i'd say go for the 180s.

I am 25, so I will not be growing anymore..I live in Lake Tahoe, but am moving next year

I think go the shorter length. I mean 3cm its not like its 30cms. Besides your fairly light and the 174 will have no trouble supporting you through powder or semi-deep stuff. Who knows maybe the shorter length may come in handy on a tight tree run.

get the 180 but if you like to ski powder alot mount the binding on the solid line on the ski but im 6'0 and the 180's are short, i mean really shot

I would go with the 180. I ski on the 180 and I am 5'9' 150 and I love the ski. Also i ski on the east coast and have no problems skiing the trees out here. I also have it mounted on the dotted line.

 
id go with 174, for better spins and park, and the 180 for more versital stuff

go with the 180 its not that much longer that you would really even notice a difference spinning and itd work better all mtn anway.

 
go for scratch b2 176 if u want all mtn. They are perhaps the best all mtn skis i have ever ridden

take the 180s. they may be a little harder to ski, but they look so much better. look at candide. his 1080s are about 4 inches over his head. they'll be better for pow too

 
Id say l;onger, im like 5'4' and i got 174's so 180 should be good, if not short for you, spinning really doesnt make a HUGE diff. with 6 cm

Uhhh im not sure about that, Jon Olsson in the xgames had his skis leaning up against him and there is no way they are 180s if they are only just above his chin when he puts them up to his body. Have to be more like 172s or something i dunno the exact length but if hes only 5 '9 and the skis are shorter than his height they cant be 180s, im 5'11 and my 178s are my exact height so go figure.

I am keeping the 174's...I have a pair of 182 BC's so it will be nice to have more park oriented ski..thanks for all the input!!
