Scouting changes

As of right now BSA is reviewing their decision to not allow gays join the scouts due to the phrase morally straight. There are many pros and some cons to not allowing gays in the scouts.

Pros:

Keeping up with social standards

It is the right thing to do

In the law it says to be courteous and kind to all

Cons:

Most Boyscout troops are sponsored by churches. If they alter Boyscout troops across the country could lose their funding and go under.

This is a brief list but I wanted to hear NSGs opinion on this.
 
Our troop had nothing to do with religion. We sucked at being the good scouts, but we were good scouts.

We were little douche bags but we were good kids. I don't think they would have cared.

If your scout troop is religious fuck em and find a better one. Boy scouts were dope, don't let god ruin it.

 
We weren't religious at all but I'm pretty sure every troop has to be sponsored by a church to be able to be a troop.
 
Hmmm, I know nothing about having any church sponsors. I don't think we were. Maybe some how loosely we were but I don't know anything about it.

 
pretty much this, shit on scouts as much as you want but as long as you arent socially awkward and enjoy being a dumbass its amazing. Can't tell you how many times I had epic times in the woods setting fires and climbing trees/cliff diving with friends. It defiantely helps when the kids you are in it with also smoke weed and party hard and youve known them forever. plus i learned skills like first aid and killnig people with nooses...

 
I was in boyscouts for a not even a year in 8th grade. My friends dad ran the meetings and was always stoned. My friend two other guys and I would smoke at camp, until one night our homie got caught with bud, pipe rolling papers and it was strait fucked he got got kicked out of the camp and they made it such a big deal. "I have never had to deal with this in my time working here!" screamed one of the organizers. Eventually the police came, the kid got an mip and sent home. Earlier at one of out meetings they brought up the concern of marijuana because people could smell it and reported it and the kid who was caught was a dumb ass. I was in my tent stoned as fuck and couldn't stop laughing about it. Then I stopped showing up because it was a waste of time and retarded as fuck. Everyone else was religious except my friends. We did not fit in and its a dude camp no chicks in sight thats the problem I noticed.

I am a long time Boy Scout, Venturer, Adult leader, and camp staff member. My former program director made the above video, before this possible change was announced. For tweeting and facebook posting about his video, my Summer 2013 employment offer has since been rescinded. I stand by my friend and I hope this policy ends.
 
I liked that video. Seriously that was just a classy and intelligent way to argue a point. I wish all arguments could be like that video. Props to him.
