Scientists discover most relaxing song.

A British band and a group of scientists have made the most relaxing tune in the history of man, an Mp3 of which is at the bottom of this article.

Sound therapists and Manchester band Marconi Union compiled the song. Scientists played it to 40 women and found it to be more effective at helping them relax than songs by Enya, Mozart and Coldplay.

Weightless works by using specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener. A continuous rhythm of 60 BPM causes the brainwaves and heart rate to synchronise with the rhythm: a process known as ‘entrainment’. Low underlying bass tones relax the listener and a low whooshing sound with a trance-like quality takes the listener into an even deeper state of calm.

Dr David Lewis, one of the UK’s leading stress specialists said: “‘Weightless’ induced the greatest relaxation – higher than any of the other music tested. Brain imaging studies have shown that music works at a very deep level within the brain, stimulating not only those regions responsible for processing sound but also ones associated with emotions."

The study - commissioned by bubble bath and shower gel firm Radox Spa - found the song was even more relaxing than a massage, walk or cup of tea. So relaxing is the tune, apparently, that people are being advised against listening to it while driving.

The top 10 most relaxing tunes were: 1. Marconi Union - Weightless 2. Airstream - Electra 3. DJ Shah - Mellomaniac (Chill Out Mix) 4. Enya - Watermark 5. Coldplay - Strawberry Swing 6. Barcelona - Please Don't Go 7. All Saints - Pure Shores 8. AdelevSomeone Like You 9. Mozart - Canzonetta Sull'aria 10. Cafe Del Mar - We Can Fly

Relaxing but not the most relaxing song ever. However music is subjective so I guess it just depends on who is listening

>mfw they leave out the best ambient artists of the last 2 decades in favor of stereotypical banal shit like Enya.

Where's the Gas? Where's the Yagya? The Stevie B Zet? The Biosphere for Christ's sake? These people know nothing of ambient and relaxing music.

hahaha yeah duh.

actually i was being sarcastic and havent heard of any of them. but i will dl it all right now

whats with all this trance music? to find true relaxing music you have to go back a few centuries. press play, close your eyes, and drift into another world. its not about the production or effects its about the notes themselves.

i was listening to this for a few minutes a couple days ago and i went from stressing about paying rent to knocked out on my bedroom floor.

sorry for posting a ton of videos, i played piano for nine years haha

all you need to do to reach another state of being through relaxation is smoke a blunt, sip some lean and have pimp flown on the stereo.

I listen to that song whenever I have trouble falling asleep... Usually takes me halfway through the song to get to sleep. Works every time.

Yeah that Marconi Union song sounded at first a lot like wolfgang voight's GAS. I don't understand how getting more complex afterwards would help relaxing. A steady 4/4 beat integrated subtly in a drone sound is just perfect. And how about Brian Eno's An Ending... perhaps its too beautiful and would be too stimulating to fall asleep...

But still, while perhaps not beiing the most relaxing ever, that song is good.

most of the shit you guys are posting my be relaxing to your mind and thats why it relaxes your body.

60 beats per minutes guys... find out what else beats at 60 beats per minute on average and welp you have your answer as to how this actually connects to your body and can relax you.

also being that this is NS most of you go in with the mindset of listening to this for the "song" and say oh this isnt good or this sucks because you already have that decided in your head.

I am a little hungover havent moved from my bed since waking up 4 hours ago and have had my blackout blinds down the whole time...just threw this shit on and I am feeeeling it.
