School rail jams

yeah so im trying to get my college to have a rail jam this winter and i just wanted to hear from people who have hosted them at their school before and helped to organize them. just wondering what kinds of problems came up, some major steps needed to get it together that kind of shit. any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

we had one at our highschool last week and it was really fun, worked out really well. just get like 10 people to help organize things, bring turf and carpet, like 3 or 4 trucks of snow (if it isnt in the valley) e-mail some companies ex. orage, line and anyone else you can think of. oh and if your doing it at night be sure not to use just one outlet for lights and music... big mistake haha at ours the outlet blew a fuse like half way through and everything turned off. its really fun and really not that hard to organize so good luck and have fun!

If you are going to do companies, it is best if they have a branch in your area.

Also, get drinks or some access to liquid. It gets hot out there

this sounds like the CVU jam on thursday!

I was in a red tee, brown hoodie, white helmet, tan pants.

hit the trap box pretty much the whole time.

it's a lot of work. get sponsors to support you. if you dont have rails, ask a local mountain if they'd be willing to let you borrow some of theirs. if not, get building soon. more than one power outlet for sure. if your school gives the ski club a budget, go through them first. my school had our rail jam this past friday and it was super fun, but there was a lot of work put into it, so be prepared for the not-so-fun side as well as the fun shredding side. good luck!

Are you in HS or College? If you're in college then talk to your student life people/ whoever provides money for that kind of stuff and get way more people to help than you think you need. of and free food always makes people want to come watch/ helpif you're in HS good luck. Chances are you'll have to fund it yourself, but you might be able to get them to help if you go to a small enough school. But again, way more people than you think you need. Oh and the more formal/legitimate you make it seem, the better chance you have of being successful.

yeah im in college and we have a nice budget, i mean a shit load, but we have nuts deals on our trips so we burn through it so fast so i need to use as little as possible. thanks everyone for the post it helps a lot
