School racing teams and twin tipps?

Last year I raced for my school team with twins, this year I was on the team as an alternate cause I didn't want to race. Basically, we'd just go ride park alll day.

That's not true. Womans fis min GS is 180cm. I ski on a 183. Men's minimum is 185cm. Most ski a 190+cm. This is for *real* racing, like Nor-Am cups. Not highschool circuit.

I swear to god... women's GS ski min is 180cm. I've been racing Nor-Ams, pontiac gmc cups for 4 years now, and the official minimum length is 180cm. Most team skiis are either 181, or 183 for women.

They don't even make team stock race skiis shorter than 180, unless you're talking junior skiis or public rack models for recreational purposes.

if you're going go through the trouble to sign up for a racing team, go to races, wear a tight suit, etc.. why wouldn't you be on race skis? I mean if you only want ride twins and ski park then don't be on the race team? simplify man.

my friend has been racing FIS and USSA for like 5 years and mens SL min is 165 and GS min is 181-according to him.

and there are three other kids on my HS team who race it and they all say taht too..

i skied switch past a racer in a spandex race suit lol, but you can ski really fast with a stiff twin that you dont use for rails, aka karmas, karmas are really good on groomers and they have really good edge hold

I raced on race skis, but many people raced on twin tips, it depends on what you want to do and how well you want to do.

It's actually 180cm, but to make the turning radius requirements most true race stock skiis come in something else, like Rossignol's are 181, Atomic are 183 et cetera. Men's atomic come in a 186, 191, but the minimum is only 185.

i race at my school and ussually just skip practice and use it for a ride to ski park everyday. i always get bitched at by my coach though. everyonce in a while i have to race and i do decent but its 100x harder with twip tips. if your seroius about it get race skis. i wont lie that racing has improved my skiing 100% and make me a all around better skier which makes park and what not easier...

I race for Lafayette College and I raced on twins all season, finally gave in and bought a pair of race skis but I still spend 90% of my time on twins in the park.

on my school race team almost all the kids have twins.. we're all gunna show up for the race next week with baggy clothes and twintips.. and then there will be the racers with thier spandex.. I'm just in it to skip school

true true true

thats what my dad always tells me, his friend that always goes on trips with us out west fuckin kills it out there because of his racing backround

Racing will make you a very good skier, if you learn how to apply the physics to other aspects of skiing. But it is the basics of knowing how to keep your hands up, keeping forward and edge control that will make any racer better than a park rat at park ratting.

Ya man, my parents made me do it...kinda sucks...im a 5'2 freshman going against like 6'5 seniors in Gs...no fucking chance, its alot about gravity in that, but anyone can dominate slalom. Plus 3-4 free rides a week to a mountain is not bad considering both runs usually total around 1;40 seconds. Too bad my coach doesnta llow twin tips to practice....Anyways, yeah it definately does help, my friends like the same as me in the park, but when we get on open trail, hes left 20ft behind wishing twin tips didnt spit up so much snow behind them.

I'm not talking USSA. I'm talking FIS, like Nor-Am cup, Europa cup and world cup. Not regional racing.
