School Help - Topic: Agriculture

For my Agriculture class, my paper should discuss people's opinion and reasons as to why only a small amount (2%) of Americans are involved in Agriculture. Despite our struggling economy and increase in unemployment: What do you think will happen in 10 years to our Agriculture Industry?

Any thoughts, inputs, and facts would help me out alot. Discuss please

Worlds ending in 2012; no point in farming more than we need to last til then. Besides, the government has massive top secret underground farms and space ships so they can blast off when the time is right

farms are grouping together and forming conglomerates, small farms are bought out by larger mega-farms if you will. pretty much in 10 years there will be a few enormous farms in most agricultural areas, and then the little organic hippie farms.

Increases in machinery capabilities allowing a few people to harvest thousands of acres. and the whole mega-farm thing stated above. There isn't a need for a large amount of employees in the actual farming part of agriculture at least in the developed world. There was a really good issue of national geographic i read maybe a year ago that covered this topic some. I will try to find it.
