Schizophrenia

Ive had brushes with it in the past from smoking entirely too much weed and getting paranoid about millions of things which werent true at all.

It wasnt just when i was high. It was all the time thinking people were out to get me. Weed has been known for a long time in psychiatry to induce schizophrenia

My buddies uncle has it. He used to beat him and scare him as a little kid.

Recently he's been alright taking medication and living at his brothers house (my buddies dad's house) up until about a month ago when his paranoia started acting up really harsh so he needed extra help at home but because they aren't the best off family they couldn't afford professionals causing his brother to take time off work. And as you know taking time off work= no income, so that put them in the drain a bit.

I think it's all good now, they're trying to save up money as a family to put him into special care.

Oh fuck off it doesn't induce it ever all it has been thought to do is mildty increase susceptibility to schizophrenic episodes in people who already have it.

Not true. Weed has been implicated strongly in the onset of true schizophrenia. Wether or not the person has to be susceptible is beside the point because lots of people can be susceptible. I may have been susceptible who knows

Schizophrenia is a genetic illness, therefore its impossible to get it unless you are either a carrier on one of your chromosomes (which you seem to be lacking) or you already have it.

It came around with me when i was smoking tons of weed tho. Im not against weed by the way. I love it. Im just saying it has a definite possibility of inducing schizophrenia. Whether you have to be susceptible or not... Whatever

Smoking weed does not make you schizo, it does however enhance the symptoms of those who/might have schizophrenia, however, schizophrenia is completely different than paranoia. Being paranoid from smoking weed is very common and a known side affect.

Like i said. I was paranoid all the time believing things that were crazy about people trying to get me. It wasnt just when i was high

Yes weed has side effects that last for a while. Including anxiety, paranoia, short term memory loss and heart palpitations. Not just when you're highZ

A kid I know has at least 5 different Facebook accounts under his name and he talks to himself on his posts with all the different accounts. It's really weird.

an ex of mines mom was a bipolar schizophrenic and honestly it was pretty brutal, but obviously you just have to be understanding and accepting of it. She was a nice person and she would be fine at times but at others there aren't even words to describe the situations i was put in. overall though it is what it is and at the end of the day she was still a nice person.

i don't have it

yes i do

no you don't

he totally does

guys stop fucking with him

i think my dad does

no that's him

who me?

yeah you

holy shit i have schizophrenia?

only you, we don't

weed harming mental health gtfo

............

LSD has plenty of perma trip and poor quality of life freak accidents.

Theres a man we know that had his hand dipped in liquid blotter while he was ass out on a couch.

Now he perma trips several animals following him.

Schizophrenia is a very interesting disorder. I had to a lot of research about it for class and am so thankful there is no genetic link present within my family.

If you are trying to call him downy, you are failing. Downs syndrome is a trisonomy, meaning that there is one extra chromosone.

my uncle went to cali back in the day (70's) and fucked around with a bunch of hallucinogens since they were so popular at the time, mainly acid, and came back schizophrenic. not saying it was just the drug but it obviously triggered something

I don't have Schizophrenia, however I am Bipolar and have experienced what I've been told are symptoms of Schizophrenia, and it's kind of fucking terrifying. Sometimes. Sometimes you like it. Which is also kind of terrifying.

Or maybe Dingo should leave for being dumb enough to think that being paranoid while you're high is in any way comparable to being schizophrenic? That seems much more reasonable to me...

well ya when you phrase it like that, sure seems pretty reasonable. but i'm going to trust your reading comprehension skills to go over his post and see if that's what he was saying.

"Ive had brushes with it in the past from smoking entirely too much weed"

seems like that's what he's saying...

I have a cousin with it, but he is doing really well. He has a successful small business and is able to set his own hours which is awesome because there are good days and bad days. He has a ton of support from his wife and extended family. No crazy stories. Just an awesome guy who got dealt a tough hand.

vibes dog

i know what that feeling is like to some extent. not schizophrenia but other things and sometimes i let myself get real absorbed in them and i can almost say i've enjoyed it at times.

I like to think of addiction as a mental illness. Whether you have a "Preexisting" condition or it comes to light while under the influence of drugs. It boils down to the chicken or the egg in my opinion. The whole powerless over drugs thing in my mind is a crock of shit. I'd know I attend meetings regularly. They say addiction/alcoholism is a disease, I just take things one step further and call it a mental disease where "most" people in the rooms wouldn't consider it a mental illness.

IMO cocaine causes Schizophrenia. Just as weed can trigger psychotic episodes in about 10% of population. Instead of citing some random numbers I'll post a valid study. See table of contents and go to section two 2. marijuana and psychosis

Keep in mind stats can be swayed in one direction or the other depending on your outlook.

For those of you that might try to "Come at me" just know that I've had enough first hand experience, and see shit happen to my friends to be able to talk about the dark train.

I have over 7 years clean, and it's only worth today. Right now I'm in a hotel beside a casino, and could go out, and find something to use in the matter of minutes. Only a fraction of addicts/alcoholics make it. The point is some do, while others don't. If you were to look at the numbers in the homeless community, and the correlation of people with Schizophrenia, and other disorders the numbers are staggering. Same could be said about jails.

I don't care if you're pro-drug or anti-drug. My advice to anyone who thinks they have a problem is go seek out help. I don't think becoming a medicated zombie is the answer either, but what I can say is when you stop using drugs the peaks & valleys mellow out to an even keel, and life can become manageable.

Yeah it's like...you don't see it coming because you like it and it feels normal (because you like it) until it's too late, and then shit gets reaaaal fucking weird.

dingo says it runs in his family. therefore he might have it without knowing, and the weed the weed brought it to the fore. that being said, he could also just have been experiencing paranoia/ anxiety induced by smoking and is jumping to conclusions

im not saying either way, i know very little about it, but i don't think its 100% unreasonable for him to suggest it. leave him alone, everyone calling him a retard etc and acting like you're a fucking psychiatrist are just ruining what could be a decent discussion about an interesting topic

Had a friend who was ill with schizophrenia, he also enjoyed partaking in psychedelic drugs. Sketchy sums up the kid perfectly, his eyes made you feel like something violent was about to happen.

i did a project on schizophrenia for my abnormal psychology class and while i was doing some research, i came across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vvU-Ajwbok i was listening to it and i minimized it and started doing normal things (texting, doing homework, petting my dog) and it was very interesting to do that because it temporarily put me in a schizophrenics shoes, but not half as bad im sure. But to me it felt very real

It's a weird state of mind where like....you feel like yourself, but then there's also something separate from yourself that has a weird hold on you, along with really intense, paralyzing paranoia. It's ducking weird, don't really know how to describe it.

I definitely believe that hallucinogens can bring out your schizophrenia, my friend that takes psychology was telling me how you can be a schizophrenic but it may never come out and be "active" (yes this is a shitty way of describing it) but hallucinogens can bring it out or activate it. Which is pretty fucked up.

And I have gotten pretty fucking bad paranoia/anxiety when being stoned, and all though it most likely doesn't cause schizophrenia it still kinda scares the shit out of me and makes me not want to do it. But i definitely believe that weed can increase your chances of becoming a schizophrenic.

and whats really fucked up that a lot of serial killers have, is called like people personality disorder? and Schizophrenia (or something like that) but it causes you to hate most people for no reason really. When you fucking hate people and you have voices inside your head telling you things = not a good combo

Schizophrenia doesn't just come on like a cold, you're either born with it or it develops over time, but either way if you have it you were always destined to have it. Smoking weed can't just make it come out of nowhere

paranoid schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder? i dunno that's all i can think of. that's an area that interests me like, i know it sounds weird but im interested in what drives people to do things like that

wat.

I don't even know where to begin so I won't. Just this: My dad is treating patiens with said mental illness as well as Alzheimer's. I worked with patients for a year. If your fascinated by it I advise you to inform yourself before you spread Broscience all over NSG.
