Scared to flip

This is kinda stupid but I can't get over the fear of flipping. Every time I'm ready to do one I just cant convince myself to do it. How do u get over the fear of flipping?

It's a weird barrier everyone hits and reacts differently to. It's a pretty cool feeling to break through though. Even watching somebody get their first flip is so friggin sick. Flips are fun but take it at your pace. Good luck!

Thank u

Are there any other tricks you’re mentally having a hard time doing? I would try something with less consequence and learn the feeling of overcoming a mental block with that trick first. Hope that makes sense, just my two cents. And yes, soft snow is the best option, I tried my first backflip off a park jump and I’m lucky I didn’t break my neck.

If you don’t commit, you’ll fuck the flip up. It starts before the jump , you have to be 100% committed. I stomped my first flip then landed the second. I used a fairly large jump in the park for my first flip but I’d recommend doing it into softer snow

I did my first flip on a big icy park jump too, but it helped me commit all the way since I didn’t want to land on my neck on the ice

Just find some cool guys who can flip at the top of the jump line and have them give u some tips and be your hypemen. From there it’s honestly just about going balls to the walls. I can do a ton of different types of flips now and it really is all just about sending it. I tried my first flip ever a couple years back with this process and here is the first attempt (credits to my friend for filming btw):

If you can 360, you can backflip, it's that simple. (360's are waaaaay harder)

Just gently throw your head back and enjoy the fly, you'll laugh at yourself when you'll realize how easy it is.

Just gently throw your head back… that’s all there is it?! Lol ?

Actually... yeah !

Set aside the way I basically said "just send it"

It is a good advice.

If you send the flip too early you'll have no amplitude and no control (and it doesn't really compensate for the lack of speed if you're too slow) and you'll most likely overspin and land on your ass.

It is still an "okay" way to send the first flip and get rid of the fear.

A flip pretty much an upside down 270, so do not over send it.

To do a nice flip, just have a nice pop, look backward until you can see the ground again, at this point you'll be up side down but your head will see the landing, so you can adjust if you need to stay in flying mode, or tuck those legs in to finish the flip quick.

The only thing to absolutely not do is to half send it, being scared and look at the sky is the best way to get stuck upside down and land on your neck (no matter how hard you try to compensate with your legs), where your head goes, your body follows.
