Sanding down afterbangs ?

So I have a pair of 2013 afterbangs(166) and I'm kind of tired of the design so I wanna sand em down to look like blanks! I'm really scared of fucking up when I'm taking of the bindings though.I have marker squires... can someone tell me what I should do about this...

You are worried about taking off your bindings out of fear of "fucking them up" yet you intend to fully deface your ski with sand paper -- potentially sacrificing the structural integrity. And this, of all things, you're ok with?!

I probably wouldn't proceed with your level of understanding.

That being said, I too have an old '13 pair of A-Bangs of which I am currently sanding down.

A few things to note.

The ink from the graphics penetrates deep. You'll start exposing the first layer of fiberglass before you remove all traces of the graphic. This will give a slight inconsistency in the wood grain you are trying to obtain.

The wood is a real bitch to sand too. Use heavy grit and work your way up to fine grit.

I'll be finishing off the ski with a darker stain and poly sealant. This will help hide some of the graphics I couldn't remove completely.

Good luck!

i've done it

used a powersander to get most of the image off, then i spraypainted them and coated the ski in a polyurithane coating.

then it got all scratched off and looked ghetto as fuck/still better than the original graphic

Did it to a pair of step ups, they were pretty shitty skis before sanding and even shittier after sanding, totally killed the flex pattern. If you have another pair of skis or the a bangs are your urban pair go for it for shits and giggles but if you are planning to continue to ski on them I wouldnt recommend it
