Anyone know what line traveling circus used to go sand skiing in episode 3.1?

Or have any experience sand skiing?

I have a long summer ahead of me and would be nice to get on my skis

skis

but seriously wax them up and it needs to be steep to work

Waxing will make them grip. You want a hard plasticy material for bases. Pretty sure it's called teflon that they used.

They tried to glue Formica to the bases but it wouldn't stay on. If I recall correctly I remember reading Andy say somewhere that they got it to work by getting he wax off their skis

it slid fast until it fell off... They glued them from a motel. Put some time into it and actually screw them to the bases.

Well yeah. But the point is that they were able to make it work just as well by simply taking the wax off, which doesn't involve gluing or screwing shit to your bases

As stated above, we glued Formica(plastic countertop material) to our bases. Andy did a poor job and his fell off fast(big surprise), he also had to leave early anyway. It will slide with normal ski bases if it's super steep, but it's extremely slow and not really worth it. Jeff Curry, Erik Olson and myself succeeded with our formica-based skis and it made a big difference.

We also bought "sandboard wax" from a local Sand Master Park in Florence, Oregon. Before every run you had to rub a bit on, put your skis on and buff it out on the sand till it felt fast. Not sure what it consists of, but it helped a lot. Anyway, here are some DIY sandboard tutorials you can just adapt to skiing.
