i just started a company called sanctioned outerwear. i plan on making affordible ski jackets, pants, and the other usual stuff(hoodies, shirts, etc.) i was wondering what people think of the jacket for my first season.

Here's a hint: If you're not making something different, more useful, or just plain better than everyone else that's crowding the market right now, don't bother. Is your jacket waterproof? Warm? Is it cut differently? Why should I buy your jacket over another?

I applaud your efforts, and you've actually made a jacket, which is impressive. But you've got light years to go before selling product.

The jacket looks pretty nice but for some reason the material looks like the cheep shiny stuff. It that stuff catches on something your jacket goes into the trash

clearing out a car is alright, but try clearing out a bus full of grade 8 kids on my toronto trip, man that was the worst fart that i ever let go and ill never forget the kids running out covering their noses along with the teachers- Lateralis

okay people the outer material on that jacket is not in the final production, i believe i have said that. and about colors, it would cost way too much to produce different color ones, i hav'nt decided on a final color yet. and about the jacket looking like that other one: it doesn't at all. and its not toilet paper, its a roll of paper towels.

and thanks for being negative: jib_this. just b/c there are other companies out there doesn't mean you cant start another company. the point is simple: affordable but effective ski gear/clothing. lets look at another affordable outerwear company devoted to freeskiing... i cant think of one.

I wasn't negative. Being negative would go something along the lines of 'your shit sucks. Get a real job and stop following your dreams'. I'm simply pointing out potential problems/things you might want to think about. The more time you put into R&D and actually thinking about your product, the more likely you are to succeed, which would be dope.

So, seriously, why should I buy your jacket over, say, a Burton jacket? Or maybe an Orage jacket? How about a Helly Hansen one? Try convincing me without using the following tactics: Beating me over the head with 'for skiers by skiers', and low prices. I'm sure you've got plenty of positive things to say, and I'd like to hear them. And besides, if you can convince me, convincing the rest of the people who frequent this site should be easy.

I don't think you should make the final one black.

I also don't like the color of the fur. The whole 'big pocket thing' (similar to Siver, in my opinion) i don't like at all. i'd MUCH MUCH rather have many small ones.

However, I do like the shape of the fur, and the hood tie-down

i'll take one i think the final color should be grey, tan, dark green, or black.

i was thinking red or steel grey. unsure about fur, i wanted something more natural, ha. and yes the final jacket will have a powder skirt.

whats the matter with big pockets? way more useful than the little ones... i didn't want a jacket with a bunch of useless pockets. besides adding most pockets isn't as easy as you would think. just the essintials.

I don't like the dead fox fur. maybe because i'm a vegetarian, hah.

just saying, i like little pockets to put individual things...cell phone in one...money in another...music in another...maybe a red bull...you know? i don't want my cell phone in a pocket with my change getting scratched or something.

thats' the reason i'm not buying siver, the big pockets.

personal opionion.

a dope red or grey would be good...try to make it match another company's color, in a way, if you aren't making pants.

dark brown would be sweet, and you gotta find a way to make them more waterproff. in my opinion, you should shoot for like a 200 dollar jacket that competes with the big guns like helly hansen and DNA. thats the one problem people have with siver, is that they arent very waterproof. and like brody said, a few smaller pockets are way more usefull than a big one. what would be really, really nice is a music pocket on the outside of the jacket, with a passthrough port for the cord. thats the big thing i want because it sucks to have to unzip your jacket when is cold and snowing to change songs. but the big pit zips are nice, (a mesh liner would be a great touch to prevent a lot of snow from comming in). but sweet looking jacket, i am getting new stuff this winter, i def keep my eyes out for your stuff. and again, id rather pay a little more for a really nice jacket than pay less for a ok jacket.

3000 i think. depends what the manufacturer has... its the same manufacturer of helly hanson, the north face, reebok jackets, adidas jackets, and a few others. so i might be able to get high quality stuff here...

man. my main manufacturer '(the north face, helly hanson, reebok and some others) has been slacking, some chinese holiday has been going on for like 10 days and they hav'nt been responding to my emails. but i found one that will make my coats and pants. i want to send out the coat on monday and get all this said and done.

no word on price as of yet, still trying to keep it around the same price as i said before.

im really trying to hurry things up guys, im just running into complications. sorry.
