Samsung NX1 - Rival to the GH4?

This popped up in my B&H newsletter this morning, and I found this really interesting. It's a 28.2 MP sensor, internal 4K at 24p, and 1080/60p. It looks like a bunch of different brands of lenses can be adapted to it, and it looks like a formidable opponent to the GH4/A7S and such. On the photo side, the AF system looks really advanced, with a claimed 205 points (don't see how that's possible though), and 15 fps burst.

It's kicking in at $1,500.

I just came here to post that, very interesting.

Not that I need a 4k camera yet, but when I do I know it's gonna be easy to get one for < $2000.

I'm not sure if I would buy this thing right away, I feel like the gh4 is the same price and is more familiar, but we shall see.

The big news here is that it uses h.265 much more efficient comparable to h.264 codec for video. 80 mbps h.265 in nx1 equals 120-160 mbps h.264 in terms of image quality.

That's cool, but does it record to HDMI out? I feel like if you're going to shoot at 4K, you might as well record it externally on a drive device.

Could be the same as Samsung's claims with their monitor's 200,000,000:1 contrast ratio's.

Also why would you ever need that many?

They are probably all going to be around the centre anyways, fewer AF points, better spread out is what I want.

thats why more efficient codec is advantage it save space on your card and card might be slower. Ofcourse nx1 has clean hdmi out. But 4k recorders are pretty expensive tho, odyssey 7q costs $2.3k, upcoming atomos shogun will be $2k. It's great if it possible internally without huge investments. The lack of internal 4k recording in sony a7s is biggest disappointement it simply doubles the cost of 4k setup.

I am fan of 'Samsung Mobile' and i am interested to get the 'Samsung S5' which have protected the glass but its very costly now. I think Samsung decreasing the value too much rapidly of 'Apple iPhone' What do you think?

I think 'Samsung Mobile' needs to hire social marketeers with better 'grammar'.
